So, I'm basically just your average user here, I guess. I work here and there, mixed up with schooling, home-work, and other stuff. I play a lot of indie and corporate games and do plenty of research to find out what people like, what's popular and what hasn't been seen before. Hopefully I can show that off.

New MMO? I think so.

Açaí Blog

Short post.
I've joined a team for an upcoming, unannounced MMO.
More info as I'm allowed to post it.

Oh, it has to me min 300 characters.
I had a good summer. School coming soon, and that's about all I have to say.
We're looking for pixel artists; help if you will.

And, by the way, the game will feature lots of pigs.
Lots and lots of pigs.

Object Interaction Events Are Boring to Make.

Açaí Blog

Wow.
So, I've been playing with multiple game engines, including Blender Game Engine, Unity 3D, Game Maker and a few others you've probably never heard of (be thankful), and from all those, I've learned one thing: making a character that can interact with everything is very, very boring. By everything, I mean everything. You can pull flowers, dig up dirt, hug trees, step on stuff, kick chickens, and anything with anything. Very, very boring to make. A lot of coding. It's insane, really. I can't contain myself; I only work with this about half an hour a day and it seems like forever.
If anyone knows a better way to do this, let me know :O

New Monthly Update-Thingy!!

Açaí Blog

So, I've decided to do a monthly blog-update thingy with what's going on and what I'm doing.
Same thing.
MOVING ON!
If you look at my Images section, you'll see a barren human-ish figure. That took me hours, man. 3D hates me and I hate it back.
Getting better, though. Slowly but surely.
I think the game it's being used in will be sort of Sim-Fantasy, inspired by Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and here and there the Zelda franchise.

On a basically unrelated note, I now own a 3DS!
If you have one, add me: 3308-4575-8072
I gots me some Pilotwings and a fancy Ocarina of Time preorder.
Anyways.
If you have any questions for any reason, lay 'em on me.

See you later, I guess.

MUGEN? And the 3DS: Why and Why Not

Açaí Blog

MUGEN? I heard it from a friend. He made a reference to Super Smash Bros somewhere in it... What is MUGEN? Is it like a platforming-fighting game engine? Looked it up, that's what I saw.

Let's look at the 3DS for a few minutes. It has its ups and downs.
There are currently NO 3D games on the market... Well, no good ones. I'm really waiting for Zelda and Paper Mario. As for the 3D without glasses, it does really look kinda cool, though if you're not looking at it straight on it hurts your eyes a little. The AR cards are really fun. You put a car on a flat surface and watch as it makes a game come to life. Just as Nintendo says!
Well, I'm really feeling lazy, so if you want more check out my forum post...

Started Sound Development!

Açaí Blog

So!
I've taken up sound development as well.
Mwahaha.
Playing various instruments has always been a hobby of mine, including Clarinet, Guitar and Percussion. With a little help here and there, I will be able to create some fun and creative music. I 'll also probably do commissions... Anyways!
See ya later.

Games and Other Stuff.

Açaí Blog

Haven't been on in a while... Working a lot.
I've recently taken up 3D with Rhino, and it works great... Planning to use it in future games as well as ones I'm working on now.
Azareal Online is being entirely rebuilt, so it's been put off for a little bit. The name might also be changed to just Azareal. Project Newbirth, a project that is going to head into development soon, will feature Fallout 1/2 style gameplay and interesting new features I hope to implement.

Umm... Not much to say. So, have fun and keep updated.
See ya.

Projects I'm Working On and Upcoming Stuff.

Açaí Blog

So, here's a breakdown of what I've been doing lately.

Projects I'm Working On:
~The Jester - GTA/Thief-Style RPG
~[untitled] - Â Platformer-RPG (a world similar to Maple Story; not level-based, but open)
~TAVAT - A game engine that I'm probably going to start testing in May. TAVAT doesn't mean anything.
~Azareal Online (I might change the name) - An MMO

Projects I'm Considering:
~RockStar - A Rock Band / Guitar Hero-Style game with an open world RPG-style element.
~BioHazard (name not final) - A game similar to Fallout 1 for iPhone and Android (if I can find someone to do this coding; I don't want to learn C#).

I'm looking forward to the release of my games as well as others.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Gamedev Is Boring.

Açaí Blog

You know.
I've been working on this RPG since July.
And I've come to realize.
It's boring.
It's fun and something to do, and in the end is rewarding, but I'm at the part now where it's really boring and I'm sitting here playing with lines of code and importing and exporting models. A lot of work. Ugh.
Are there any tips out there to make things more fun and exciting?

Custom Engine?

Açaí Blog 3 comments

Well, this is my first blog post.
I guess I'm going to get to my point now.

I'm considering making a custom game engine, specifically use for an upcoming RPG game I'm developing. This engine will be coded in C++ and will work similarly to the Room Editor in Game Maker. After I've done some test runs, I'll release an alpha that will be able to make a simple game. If this does not succeed or go well, then the project will be canceled.

All support is appreciated :)
