Though both "Portal Remastered" & "Alive & Kicking" take place in the "Portal 2" setting, I imagine there'll be some creative differences with some of the test chamber designs and especially the BTS areas.

Like in this mod, Test Chamber 18 has a bottomless pit in Ratman's Den, showing off some other test chamber exteriors and catwalks in the background. They probably won't have that same setup in "Alive & Kicking".

As someone who is on a 5 year waiting list to change my life for the better, I can say that patience is definitely a trait worth having.

That said. I still check this site every day for updates. I don't expect there to be an update every time, but I still keep tabs on this mod (as well as sites modding my other favorite games) anyway.

Where does the Escape Part 1 end again? Is it in the sewer tunnel just before the Turret Arena? OR is that too far ahead?

I can't wait to see Test Chamber 19 and the following escape sequence.

The biggest change I'm waiting to see is the drop from the missing Elevator in Test Chamber 9 that leads into the next BTS area.

In Test Chamber 18 I managed to jump on the railing in Rattmann's Den and jump into the void. Best part - It doesn't kill you. Turn on Noclip and you've got a pretty cool new area to check out (Please don't patch that part, I like exploring places with Noclip)

But the thing about Noclip is that it takes away the mystery, it's fun looking out from the playable area and wondering what new and exciting areas are out there with new Tests, new BTS areas, etc.

But then I use Noclip to go out into these areas, and it's just "what ya see is what ya get".

My dream is to combine all the maps from Portal 1 and Portal 2's campaign to make one big open world environment. (Kinda like what they did in Lego Dimensions, but on a much bigger scale and more lore accurate.

Since some of the chambers are destroyed after their first appearance, there'd definitely have to be chunk swaps in place. But after both campaigns are completed, they'd retain their final appearance for the freeroam. With the only difference being that all Elevators are functional to allow multiple ways to traverse the facility.

Because I'm just imagining the sequence where GLaDOS leads us back to Test Chamber 19, but the original Escape Sequence is blocked off. Just imagine if it was still there. You could make your way back to GLaDOS and get her frustrated. Or you could go back to the corridor just before GLaDOS's Chamber and go back through Wheatley's Shortcut to go back to Test Chamber 7. Or even go and take a ride through the pipe that leads you to GLaDOS but splits you from Wheatley.

But that would be a long and painful project that I don't think anyone would be up for.

I didn't realise this site had signed me out. The above comment is mine. Not that it makes much of a difference to anything, just me being clumsy as usual.

I have every iteration of this Game/Mod saved as a separate entry in my Steam Library. I play them all like one evolving series. I feel like having Chell repeat the same course over and over again as it evolves would make her reaction even more frustrated when she arrives at the same course in Portal 2.

Does this make me evil? Maybe I am GLaDOS... Or Wheatley?

Which brings me to my next question... Could an abandoned overgrown version of the entire Portal 1 Test Track be modded in place of the test track we get in the first few chapters of Portal 2?

This is arguably better than Portal with RTX... In that my PC can actually play it, and it makes Portal feel more connected to Portal 2 because they use the same design now.

Looking good. Love what you did with Rattmann's Den in Chamber 18. Now I can't wait to see what you've done with the Escape Sequence.

So if I download the new files, will they replaces the previous update in Steam, or will it be listed as a seperate game?

Because it would be cool to keep all versions as seperate games in my library, so I can play them all and compare the differences.

Complete opposite to that for me.

If I try to load up any Chamber from the main menu, I'm stuck in the elevator floating in an infinite void.

But if I load up Chamber 00, I can continue through all of them with no issues.

I honestly didn't realise they were supposed to have the proper texture, every mod I've ever seen that tries to put the orbs into Portal 2 always has them as missing textures, so that didn't phase me.

The thing I did pick up on, was how more difficult it is to bank the orb into the receiver using the Companion Cube, I died 5 times trying to successfully do it, because the orb just seems to bounce in random directions instead of bouncing at the angle the cube is set.

Yes, same problem, but only if I load that Chamber up from the main menu.

When I do the whole playthrough starting at the first Chamber, I do not have this problem.

Those mods aren't released yet, how can I check them out?

Once again, I go to check out a mod that someone recommended, and it is still in development and has no files... I don't get the joke I'm clearly missing?

I was recommended this mod to check out by someone, but as it's still in development, I cannot do that.

Ok, where to start.

At first I was unsure about the lack of Elevators between the earlier chambers... But considering how short most of the early chambers are, it makes sense to group them together so there's less loading screens.

It definitely feels like it fits right in with Aperture Science's design in Portal 2, but it does still have the atmosphere that was present in the original Portal.

Rattmann's Dens... Beautiful.

I'm still very curious as to how Test Chamber 9 will work during the Escape Sequence. Especially with the new Elevator Design.

Looking forward to the rest of the game, except Test Chamber 18, I always hated that Chamber... Specifically the part where you have to retrieve the Cube from the Turret room. Actually I'm not a fan of the last room in Chamber 18 either... That whole Chamber is just so frustrating... But it is what it is.

Great work.

That seems like quite the dilemma...

But every other Chamber that uses a preplaced Orange Portal works correctly, yes?

If so, then surely it's in the coding or something, see what's missing from that chamber's code that is not missing from the others, maybe?

Just a suggestion, I'm no professional or anything, just making an attempt to be helpful.

I'm kind of hoping this mod won't be released until Monday, because I'm on holiday and won't be back at my PC until Sunday Night.

But still looking forward to the mod whenever I get the chance to play.

Totally get it. A lot of the games I've been looking forward to have been total let-downs on release due to game breaking bugs and lack of attention to detail.

So it's refreshing to see someone actually dedicated to making sure their game is well polished on release.

I'm still looking forward to it when it's ready.

Are you keeping the Elevator Notification Bell sound from Portal 1, or will it be silent like in Portal 2?

The test chambers look great, the escape sequence looks fantastic... But one thing's still bugging me...

What elevator room design did you go for? I'm really hoping it's the portal 2 elevator rooms, cos the Portal 1 elevator rooms just felt too... Unsettling.

You did well to make sure none of the above images showed even a glimpse of what the elevator rooms look like.

Never mind, I just watched your Youtube trailer... Right at the end there... My question was answered... And I like the results.
