Description
largest steam locomotive ever made, when they were in use UP had 25 running.
The description at the bottom of the photo. It describes the "Big Boy" as a "Mallet type". This is incorrect, The Big Boys were simple articulated locomotives with two high pressure engines. They were not Mallet articulated locomotives which had one high pressure engine and one low pressure engine.
