Description
This week there was a presentation about new and modernized vehicles in Finnish service.
Leopard 2A4 chassis will be used for Marksman AA systems (as ItPsv Leopard 2 Marksman) and for mine clearing duties.
Pictures are from newspaper (Iltalehti) and you can find video of the presentation here: Youtube.com There were also new infantry equipment and lighter vehicles.
Marksman turret it so ugly, it can't even work :)
I believe most errors with the system (apart from the looks) were fixed back when the system was mounted on T-55 chassis (behind on the picture) in early 1990's.
According to 2004 magazine by AA-Officer Association, the documented accuracy of the system is very good and the system is capable after getting rid of the issues firsthand (took until 2000's). After that, the only issue was the age of the T-55 tanks and it was fixed by changing them to Leopard 2's.
