almost, it was a very old rifle design put forward for use but the British Army favoured a modified version of the FN-FAL called the SLR, which was pretty much the same as the FAL, except it only fired semi-automatic. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the EM2 was never actually formally adopted by the British Army.
OH and this isn't in Call Of Duty, That would be the L86A2 LSW ( Light Support Weapon) and the British Military use it as a Marksman rifle, not a LMG as portrayed in that game ( if they use it as a LMG now, Pics or it didn't happen.
there are a few differences between the A1 & A2, the most identifiable are the Hand guard (the large green thing just behind the barrel)
The coccking handle on the A1 is round, where as onm the A2, its a lot more ergonomic.
Not to mention this one doesnt jam remotely as much, i remember jamming with the A1 on almost a daily basis, and we kept our weapons in pristine condition, where as, i've never, ever jammed with the A2.
The LSW was originally used as a Section based support weapon, but these days we mainly use it as a Designated Marksmans weapon, when there isnt a better weapon in the Section.
I still think that for what it is, its an extremely decent weapon (the A2 that is!) it does have its pro-s and cons however.
Pros:
-Relatively easy to use
-Bullpup so short and good for trench warfare / OIBUA
-Very Accurate
-Easily Customisable
-Comfortable to use
-Has a world class slinging system
-Looks the dogs nuts!
-SUSAT Sight, when fitted, is still pretty powerful despite some of them being replaced with an ACOG.
-Can be fixed with a bayonet!
Cons:
-Quite heavy for a modeern weapon
-Doesnt have the stopping power of the old SLR
-Still has that flimsy feel to it, escpecially when using the Sword in a CQB environment.
-Quite expensive for what it is.
A2 doesnt work either. The first SA80 that works is the H&K Version.
The British Military has a contract with H&K that overhauls the older versions to an working version...
The only assault Rifle of British Origin (if I'm not mistaken)
But God do I like it!
Actually there is this and the Enfield EM-2.
It looks slightly like the L85 ,is it a Prototype?

Love this in CoD:MW2 ...uhm, I mean wow, love shoting turkeys with this gun IRL
<----- Not Amused.
Only Difference between the L85A1 and the L85A2...is the A2 works.
Youtube.com Top Gear, Great show.

All in all, a really decent piece of kit.
And the LSW is being replaced, i forget what it's being replaced for but it looks like a SR-25.
They've been using LMGs (minimi's) In replacment as a Section weapon, and they already use the L96 and its replacment the L115A3 As sniper weapons.
All these changes might not mean squat now we have a new Government.
lol this looks like the battlefield 2 L85
