It's an Italian prototype SPAAG. I don't know why a tank would be afraid of that.

Because getting hit by ~350mm penetration APFSDS fired from a 76mm every 0.5 seconds is probably not good for any tank, modern or obsolete.

Considering most 3rd gen MBT's front armor is in excess of 600mm and a single HE should would put thing thing out of action, not really.

Multiple hits around the same area on a tank's frontal armor will weaken it shot after shot (death by a thousand cuts?), also remember that since most modern MBTs use multiple thin plates of sandwiched rolled steel and either rubber or other similar materials (russians use textolite) the weakining effect will be enhanced for each shot! And then of course, you have weakspots, and considering this thing's accuracy (effective range is listed as 1000-5000 meters, maximum range is in excess of 10km), it wouldn't be TOO hard for at least 1 in 4 shots to hit (that's a single salvo for the Otomatic basically). Anyway, since all of the above is theory and the Otomatic is meant to be a long range AA first and foremost (it's not meant to be used as an MBT), not to mention this technical comment being too long for a humourous post, here is another funny and relevant pic: I.imgur.com
