It's funny what religion can do to the mind. People can believe anything they want and suddenly think they are doing the right thing.

The human mind is just so...simple... So incredibly stupid despite our intelligence over other animals.

We are practically animals...no wait. Far below animals.

So we have enough wars with Christians and go right into Islam? Well, guys, don't forget we are minority, elite and intelligent, but still minority.

And yes, religion is always step backwards, no matter how "modern" or "peaceful" it is. Why do people want to believe they are just toys? Are they ashamed of what they have done and trying to blame someone else?

Wait what?

Because we are a minority we should walk on egg-shells around those who are blatantly ignorant? Have you no courage? Are you a mouse or a man?

If you are honestly 'intelligent' and 'educated' then why post this comment? You know what you are saying is fact but are afraid to say it because some random people on the internet who you do not know have higher numbers than you...

My point is that arguing with believers makes no sense. I tried, writing long comments on Christian group, but I met a wall of ignorance. Do I really need to be ****** off every time someone answer? If both sides don't listen, reasoning is futile. I regret that I spent so much time trying it. It has nothing to do with numbers. I don't afraid to say it, I just said it too many times with no positive result. Isn't it on our group, that you are crazy if you do the same thing for the third time and expect different result? Well, I dare not to be crazy anymore. And next time look on that work before attacking me.

What? No. You can argue how much you want on internet. I was referring to real things, real life. Yes, here it's only about those karma numbers, but in real in countries where atheists are minority you hardly can do something really useful.

You know...you got a major point there. I had a recent religious argument with my parents that I used to understand what makes them so defensive and then it hit me.

Some people just want to believe because of fear/they want to be loved in a Church. No rational debate I know yet will ever convince them otherwise.

Also, for anyone saying I'm trying to "convert" my parents to be Atheist; no it's actually quite the opposite. They've been trying to convert me back to Christianity and I've been calmly telling them "No" and giving them reasons why.

Response to CommanderDef

lol true. Unfortunately i'm insane so... I just hope when i post my debates (not really arguments as i don't break down into petty insults - merely facts from me), that someone will read it and actually think... As you say this is futile, which i agree, for a majority of people this will have no effect. But i guess im just an optimist to think SOMEONE will have the critical thinking skill to actually comprehend what i'm saying.

Besides, i also get a kick from seeing what their 'rebuttal' is anyways. It's like a gameshow: "spin the wheel of logical fallacies"

There are men who will murder dozens of people for their beliefs. They'll strap bombs to animals, they'll release toxins into crowded public areas, they'll teach their children to fight and die for their own beliefs, they'll brutally torture people in hopes that it may motivate their enemies to leave them alone, and they'll readily blow away thousands of civilians for what they want.

They'll do all of this, and they'll call themselves Muslim.

Likewise, there are men who harass others, who abuse and torture animals, who'll readily pursue meaningless sexual relationships with complete strangers, who'll spend their time working out how to legally steal from others, who'll kidnap, torture, rape, and murder other people - even children, and who'll go to war with others solely for their beliefs.

And again: they'll do all of this, and they'll call themselves Christian.

My point is: if I were to denounce Christianity right now - if I said that these religious beliefs were foolish and self-destructive, and that I would from now on follow science and logic, as an Atheist...

...if a month from now, you heard something about a man who was arrested and sentenced to death after having massacred several church-fulls of people in the name of atheism, and you learned that it was me who did it...

Would you defend me? I mean, I'm a good atheist, aren't I?

Blue, murdering people for their beliefs is connected to religion. Atheism in not a religion. That does not mean that there is no such an idiot to do it (everytime there is an idiot for idiotic things), but he certainly won't become a hero.

I'm not very good at writing and I'm sorry if what I wrote mislead you, but the point I was trying to make wasn't that atheists can be just as violent as religious people, nor was it that you might consider me a "hero" if I went around killing people who were different from you. While some "atheists" might, I'm sure that most of you know much better.

The point was that you wouldn't consider me an atheist if I went around killing Christians, because random violence isn't something that's supported by atheism - it goes against atheistic ideals.

Likewise, how can I consider a rapist, murderer, sexist, or else to be Christian, when their sole devotion in life is to an anti-christian ideal?

You're all right about those "religious people": they are doing bad, they are foolish, they are corrupt; but they're not Christian. They think that what they're doing is right... Consider what Velancious said about Hitler: He was extremely devout, and he was insane.

He didn't think rationally (insane), and he was extremely devoted to his ideas - not Christianity itself, but certain aspects of Christianity that he thought were the most urgent (anti-gay, anti-non-believer, etc.).
He was an extremist.

Those people in the picture, they're doing what they *think* is right - they're obviously wrong, but they've been trained to act a certain way. In a way, they're like the dogs some criminals use to attack their victims while they steal from them. The dog thinks he's doing right, because his master tells him that he is.

The people who do bad things do it for a reason. I realized with people it isn't just simply "good" and "evil". Stalin killed his people to forward his country. Hitler killed the Jews, homosexuals, etc because he was so devout in his faith and out of insanity, thought God wanted him to kill them all.

It isn't always about religion. It's just faith and blind patriotism that is the true enemy of the human race.

Ummm...Hitler used to be a Catholic, but he became an atheist in the beginning stages of his political campaign. He and Mussolini attempted in vain to "reconcile" with the pope on order to the vast Catholic majority.

The truth is, people can do horrible things in the name of anything or anyone. If someone massacres an entire town in the name of Bill Gates, does that make Bill Gates a horrible person? It just means that the guy who committed this atrocity has some serious aggression issues. You can't just blame an entire religion because of some individual's whacky beliefs.

NOPE. WRONG. LIES. INACCURATE. FALSE. DECEPTION.

He never became an atheist, he was, until his death, a Catholic.
