Are you a 3D artist? Are you looking for some inspiration? Do you just want to collaborate or know who your fellow ModDB artists are? Doesn't matter what application you use or how you do it... if you're a modeller, animator, skinner or looking at getting started with 3D, then this is the group for you!
A simple scene that pop-ed in my head, and it was a good practice of making some glass objects, its not perfect but still i am good with the result...
Im always open to constructive criticism and suggestions!
Made the whole thing in Blender 2.60
Compositing also in Blender..
Yeah, hope you like! If you have any ideas on improving glass parts, make sure you speak them out! :D
Rendered this for whole 20 minutes! @_@
Glass tends to have very harsh specularity and the spec highlight on the beaker is quite fuzzy and weak, I'd suggest upping the hard value of the object. As well, glass has an inherint IOR of around 1.33 that causes some distortion, the current IOR seems to weak. As well, when we perceive light of any sorts it allows us to see more light, including the natural ambient light. A slight AO pass to bring up the shadows would help this a lot, as shadows tend to not naturally be pitch black unless in an area with absolutely no windows or cracks of any kind.
Actually the kind of glass used for chemical instruments, is quite different, is not the common one you'll find in a window or a bottle of wine.
It is made to have nearly no reflection, being the reason of it nearly nonexistent thickness, so you can see the measures in the glass and know how much of what you have in there. The reflections is just like the one in this render.
Source? Animated Chemistry components for University lessons. Did I spend too much time in the lab? Yes. Did I do experiments? Feds would like to know xD
For artistic purposes i would recommend increasing the specs and such a bit - i could hardly notice it was there
Thanks guys! I tried refreactions already before and 1.3 was a bit too much, so i went with 1.05
