Mod of the Year

Back for a 16th time, welcome to the 2017 Mod of the Year Awards. You will find no loot boxes, microtransactions, unlockables or DLC here - just amazing free mods made by dedicated creators for your enjoyment. For the next 4 weeks it is up to you to vote for your favorite mods so that they may make the top 100 which will be announced on the 11th of December.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl a massive crowd favorite won last year, and was closely followed by Enderal an epic total conversion finishing runner up and Hearts of Iron IV: The Great War coming in 3rd. If you need a refresh of how last year's awards went down head on over to the top 10 countdown's for both players and editors to see who stood out among the pack.

Show your support and start smashing those vote buttons for your favorite mods (and if your favorite mod isn't listed encourage the team to add it). Developers need to feel the overwhelming power and groundswell of support for mods, which drive so much creativity and goodwill in games of all shapes and sizes. There's been some huge releases this year, make your vote count and we look forward to seeing who will climb to the top, and be crowned the 2017 Mod of the Year.

December has begun around the world which means voting booths are live on all mod profiles, and it's time for the players to nominate the 2017 Mod of the Year.

Welcome to the 2017 Mod of the Year awards the largest modding event on the web, celebrating the hard working and dedicated mod community.

Forget about loot crates for a while

Forget raging about loot crates, pay to win and microtransactions ruining our games and instead focus on the best (and freest) part of PC gaming, MODS! Many of the biggest names in gaming have embraced modding at some point in their history, so for the next 30 days let's make some noise. Let's show how much mods mean to us and how much business they drive by voting for your favorites and supporting games that embrace modding. Then, come the end of December your votes will help decide this year's best upcoming and best released mod. Here is how it works.

Phase 1 - Nominations Begin

For the next 10 days, every mod profile (see our year in review) on the site has a voting booth. Just click the big "vote now" button to show your love and help get your favorite mods into the TOP 100.

Phase 2 - The TOP 100

After nominations have been tallied, the TOP 100 will be unveiled on the 11th of December and a final round of voting begins for 10 days to determine the 2017 victor.

Phase 3 - Mod of the Year 2017 Revealed

Cue the drumroll, because the wait has ended and around Christmas we are going to start announcing the 2017 winners.

  • Editors Choice Award Release 22nd December
  • Players Choice Unreleased Release 27th December
  • Players Choice Mod of the Year Released 29th of December

Promotional Tools Available

Good luck, get voting, feel free to utilize our promotional tools and may the best mod win!

Win Games for Voting

Every member from the community who votes has a chance to win a game from our #modlove collection. The more you participate, promote the awards and encourage your friends to vote the better your chance. In addition to this the winning mod teams will be heavily promoted across our network, get the prestigious honor of being able to include the award badge where-ever they damn well please, and be introduced to publishers interested in taking their idea to the next level.

Probably, it would be beaten by some russian mods that are available on ap-pro.ru, but no one translate them or move to moddb :/
They really dont care about getting more players and expand community input especially in terms of addons.

Moddb have simple way to manage mods and players files but russian devs just dont get it, and for most of time they literally stick to just one place to advertise they mods...

Wasn't there one person/team that is at least trying to get as many russian mods as possible translated and put up here.

ZPS is still a thing? By the gods, I haven't even thought about the Source engine since probably 2008.

It's still alive after 10 years. It's a standalone modification now. You don't need an ownership of a Source game to play it anymore.

No prizes this year? Is it that you did not find someone to sponspor this year's MOTY awards or you did you simply not have time to find one? And is Mod.io the project you are working on, along with the new version of ModDB?

Whatever the situation, good luck once again to everyone and glad that MOTY continues non-stop for the last 16 years :) !
