"Z Warrior Chronicles" is an independent project being worked on by Xatoku based off of the popular Dragonball Z franchise by Akira Toriyama. This project has been going since early April 2011, and has gone through many revisions along the way, but the story elements are now being worked on and progress is booming. The aim of this project is to emulate the Dragonball Z world in an Action/RPG type scenario,and tell the story of the Z Fighters as best it can. The gameplay is best described as a combination of Legacy of Goku 2 & Dragonball Z Sagas on the GBA & PS2 respectively, along with a ton of Anime inspired gameplay elements as well. Production is naturally at a slow but steady pace due to the development team being only me, but I've invested all of my free time into this project and have no intention on stopping any time soon.
This version is mainly to fix some of the bugs, and some additions I've made in the past month. Nothing too big a deal here, other than controls which have become nearly perfected thanks to Mima's suggestions.
Strafing - Instead of rotation being on the A + D buttons, you can now use them to strafe left/right respectively in any direction. You can also press R to enter the camera mode as you play which will hide the cursor and make the mouse control camera movement, making PC controls much more similar to the majority (thank Mima for that one.)
Explosion FX - Self explanatory. I've upgraded some of the effects to generally look better and feel more "DBZ-Ish", for the most part.
Enemy Targeting - Pressing 1 will now lock onto the nearest enemy, aiming the character towards them when moving or executing an attack. Characters will also dash toward the target when CTRL is pressed, and aim all special attacks toward them as well.
Beam Struggles - Now, your energy will constantly recharge as you are in a struggle (but you still have to hold MMB!), but pressing Q will give you tiny bursts of energy to build up, allowing you to shoot more intimidators with CTRL.
New Melee System - Press E to enable/disable your aura. With it enabled, your energy will deplete and your multiplier regenerates. With it disabled, the reverse happens. If it's enabled and you do melee hits with LMB, you will add more to your multiplier, and then can release the stored multiplier with RMB. Charging energy with Q will also change when your aura is out/not out.
New Stat Menu - Changed the stat menu to be more accessible, now giving brief descriptions on each stats purpose. Not all of their purposes are implemented yet, but they're there for the most part. Stats can be upgraded with Z points which are gained from levelling up.
