Welcome to Warriors and Tactics fourth development update. This week we are going to show you new warriors, new abilities and talk about the current state of the project.
Our artist has been working hard on new warriors meshes in the past few weeks. Since the last update, we added two new characters to the game - guardian and trapper. If you follow our Twitter you may have already seen one of the guardian’s abilities called Overwatch. Once a character enters overwatch they shoot everyone who enters any of the tiles in their sight. Trapper, on the other hand, focuses on placing traps on the map and poisoning enemy warriors.
Programming warrior’s abilities is currently our main focus. With 17 abilities done and over 20 designed (out of 26 that will be available on launch), we are aiming to have them all working in-game until the end of the year. If you have any ideas for abilities that you think should be in the game make sure to post them in the #ideas channel on our Discord server.
Traps are one of the few things you can place in the world. They damage everyone who steps on them making them a perfect tool to use to either defend your position or force the enemy to move through a certain path. Be careful though, because if you don’t think ahead when placing them, you might end up being the trapped one.
We have been receiving some questions about the alpha tests of the game. We are very happy that you are eager to play Warriors and Tactics and we can’t wait to let you experience the game. There are a few things that we need to take care of before we can begin the alpha testing phase. First of all, we need to finish all the abilities. Second of all, we have to improve the UI to show you all of the relevant information about the match you are playing. Then we have to add matchmaking so that you can focus on playing instead of sitting on our Discord server trying to find people to play with. Implementing all of this takes time but we are doing our best to hit our alpha estimate which is the first quarter of 2020.
That's it for today. We'd love to hear your opinions, so don't be afraid to contact us and feel free to catch us on Discord and discuss the game. We're dedicated to working with the community and we're always eager to hear your ideas and feedback.
