Uncontrollable is the infinite platformer with procedurally generated levels set in 6 different worlds where your controls randomly change during the game. Yes, your controls may change from, for example, W-S-A-D to E-D-S-F and other combinations. The farther you go, the more unstable your controls become.

This makes the game really challenging. The instability of your key bindings takes some time to get used to, but once you do, Uncontrollable gets really fun and addictive. Trust me, I played this game myself a lot and I really enjoyed it.

The goal of the game is to reach the end of a level and jump into the portal to another world. Jump into as many portals as possible and also collect as many pyramids as you can along the way. There are also 11 useful (or not) power-ups that you can encounter and pick up during the game.

How far will you go?

The original version of this game was made only in 3 hours for a 3 hour game jam Trijam 141.

Useful tips

  • Hold "Run" key to accelerate. You can accelerate in the air.

  • Try not to land on the edges of the platforms.

  • In the first levels Uncontrollable will only change your key bindings to WASD-like combinations.

  • Collecting pyramids is not necessary but collecting them improves your score.

System requirements:

  • 2 GHz x86 or x64 processor (Windows), x64 processor (Linux);

  • an integrated graphics card with at least 256 MB VRAM;

  • 2 GB RAM.

Hello!

The finger-twisting platformer is back! I’m excited to announce that Uncontrollable is getting a huge update.

This game was originally made for the Trijam #141 back in 2021. The goal of this game jam was to make a game in just 3 hours. Yes, the original version of Uncontrollable was made only in 3 hours! 2 years later I decided to improve the game significantly and implement things that I couldn’t do in such a short deadline.

What's this game?

What's new?

Increasing difficulty

As I said before, the farther you go, the more challenging Uncontrollable becomes. You start easy and later the game gets more difficult. This is a common game design practice for most infinite runners (and usually most games in general) but due to the unstable nature of your controls the original version was already challenging enough and you could lose anytime. But since it had fixed difficulty, it was difficult for many players to properly figure it out (remember, the original version was made in 3 hours). This update fixes this issue. Also in this update the moving red wall (you are supposed to run away from it) won’t appear on every level and its speed will increase with every level.

Score, pyramids, power-ups!

The original version of the game counted portals only (and incorrectly but that’s fixed now). But now it also counts overall game score, collected pyramids and records high scores!

You can also collect pyramids and boxes of pyramids scattered across the levels. They improve your score. And you can also pick up some useful power-ups. There are 11 of them but I won’t spoil their abilities for you (but I will say that you must not pick up the “X” power-ups).

Improved UI

This update features the updated UI that properly scales on various monitors. The game now has a settings window (remember once again, the original was made in 3 hours; of course, it didn't have a settings menu then) where you can configure graphics, preferred controls, mouse, sound and reset your high scores. There’s also a pause menu.

Try to beat my high scores:

  • score: 237326;
  • pyramids: 842;
  • portals: 19.

I hope you enjoy Uncontrollable. I spent a lot of time writing the gameplay code, balancing things and testing it. And I had fun! When I say that I had fun I mean it! I hope you’ll have fun too!

Have a nice day!
