The Sun Will Go Out is an exploration and shoot-em-up game with an emphasis on atmosphere. You arrive as an inexperienced pilot in a troubled solar system where resources are running out and piracy is growing stronger. You are there to help, in what way you can. At the same time, a conflict is developing between the fractions the Alliance and the Rebels. Which side are you on?

The first freely available alpha-version of The Sun Will Go Out is now publicly available!

We are of course excited, and quite exhausted. The game was quietly released on our website on the 15th of June (a deadline is a deadline!) and was preceeded by an intense week where we tightened up the game, squashed a pile of bugs and put features like saving and overworld map in place. Overall we felt that the planning could have been slightly better, but we are all satisfied with how it panned out. The feedback we got from the previous closed testing has been invaluable in making this open version more enjoyable. Thank you testers, we really appreciate it!

Next version will probably be released at the end of the summer, and we are right now planning and discussing what we should focus on during this time. We are coming closer to a “feature freeze” of the game, after which we won’t add more new features to the game and instead will focus on filling out and improving what we have. Well needed as the end of the year, and with that our planned release, is coming closer and closer..

We would like to hear from you! Have you played the game? Did you like it? Did you not like it? Why? All would be very appreciated! Leave a comment below or send us a message!

The next devlog will be up in two weeks, where we will discuss the next stages in the game's development. Hope to see you then!

Cheers!
