In The Chemist, working hard and managing your resources well is as important as making the right decisions about your life and your work. Making the best out of the contracts and the resources available to you, you’ll find yourself creating recipes for all sorts of different liquids and finding answers to your questions like “what would happen if my fruit soda could also be used as a soap?”. As you get more and more famous, certain companies with grand plans for the world may start watching your steps - should you choose to deal with them, you’ll witness the results of your actions shape the world. And whenever the stress becomes too much to bear, you can always throw around some flasks and watch them shatter to pieces; or just take out the trash. It’s good for your soul. Bad for paying the rent.
Mix and earn: Choose from hundreds of different contracts, be it an AC cleaner or a soy sauce recipe, and progress through the story as you make both a living and a name for yourself.
There are also some...particularly shady concoctions that you can make a huge profit from. If you're the risky type, try to master the dark side of chemistry right down in your basement!
Don’t be afraid to try new things! A tasty motor oil, a hot pepper flavoured cake cream; why not! Be mindful though, when you’re creating a shaving gel recipe that can also be used for...other purposes, things may get out of hand rather quickly.
Event based gameplay : Your decisions will have consequences. It may be about your private life, your career, or even the fate of the world. The rich content of events will keep surprising you. By rich we mean, as of now, close to 800. Just don't ask how we came up with them...
There is always a mastermind plan brewing. You’ll catch the eye of some very powerful companies as they try to make the world a better place or simply to take advantage of you. Whatever their goals, your dealings with them will change the world in an all too visible way.
Use your resources wisely: outright completing a contract may not always be to your benefit. You may have to save up on some particular resources as their prices rise up due to seasonal storms or the president’s digestion problems...
Traits explained:
Traits are the stuff that appear on the right side of the property intervals. They have a minimum % value which is the minimum volume that trait needs in order to be present in a mix. An example:
3 resources are mixed, all with the same amount. 2 of them have the trait "fast reaction", this means that Fast Reaction is now at 66%. If the minimum value of Fast Reaction is lower than 66% then this mixture will have the trait Fast Reaction when finalized. If it needs a min value of say 85% then it won't be present in that mixture and you have to add more of something that has Fast Reaction if you want that trait to show up.
You can track the current volumes by the upper part of the scanner where it will show the % of each resource that make up your mixture as well as the traits in those resources.
All traits add to the value of a mixture and generally traits that have a higher min % are more valuable. So, if you are preparing a mixture to sell on the market, and if it is missing the trait Crude Oil by just 5%; add some more Crude Oil to it before finalizing it and its value will go much higher.
They are also what make the game most fun, they are the reason of events! Almost all traits will result in an event related to the contract you've done. You can for example make a tasty motor oil on purpose even if the Tasty trait isn't asked for on the motor oil contract and wait to see the results.
We know that it looks like we were lost after our last article, but do not worry, we are alive and working on a lot of new and shiny things and we are here to talk about it!
After all of your lovely and constructive criticism, and a bit of critical thinking of ourselves, we realised that this game has a greater potential, so in our absence we planned and worked on new content and improving every aspect of the game.

A highly interesting idea which DEFINETLY needs more public focus .
As a funny idea : Maybe you can make an illegal moonshine , improvised brewery in the basement , and make a buck or two , before getting onto "heavier" and more "serious" stuff ? LOL .
So it begins, finally live on Steam! Apologies about the delay everyone, first time doing this. Here's to hoping for a good launch!
How many developers are there at tensixfour Creative?
3 - I myself am working inside the engine on the game itself and am also trying to handle anything community related (with success I'd hope?), another one of us is handling the text content (events, contracts, resources etc.) and the last of us balances stuff (economy, pacing etc.) and tests the game.
The game is already Fantastic! just a couple problems, my oculus keeps starting up when i play the game. and the trash, it just wont go away!
Hey there, glad to hear you like it! It always boosts tge spirit hearing that. And both problems are solved for the next build!
