In 1986, the world's worst nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl power station. Soviet authorities established a 30km 'Exclusion Zone' around this nuclear wasteland, but in 2006 a second explosion rocked the stricken reactor, obliterating all living things and causing the Zone's boundaries to ripple outwards. From this epicenter came waves of mutated creatures, deadly radiation, and a strange, anomalous energy. The Zone was cordoned off by the military, who would shoot on sight anyone foolish enough to brave the horrors within.

"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Duty - Philosophy of War" by zaurus+crew

This mod is the direct prequel to "Fallen Star - Mercenary's Honor". "Philosophy of War" ends where "Fallen Star" begins. A lot of questions I had during "Fallen Star" are answered here in advance. Philosophy of War is also the last part of the "Apocalypse Trilogy" by Zaurus and his crew. The other two parts - "Apocalypse" and "Search - DIES IRAE" will be translated by me in the coming weeks and months. Each time you can see a significant increase in the quality of the mods of Zaurus and his people. From the first part "Apocalypse" to the last part "The Last Stalker". I love the stories in the mods and am very grateful to the Zaurus crew for this great experience. The whole story takes place in the same stalker universe as Shadow of Chernobyl. You will see many familiar faces and places again and much of the main game will be added or continued. Great!

You don't have to play every single mod in the series to be able to understand the whole story. But it puts a lot of puzzle pieces together and makes it even better. Each mod is different because you play a different role in the Stalker universe each time. And this also results in completely different motivations of the protagnists. This has a massive effect on the gameplay. For example in this case - "Philosophy of War":

You will perform the role of "German". A rather inconspicuous member of the search group with very personal motivations. He is an honourable man who is always ready to help other people when they are in need. No matter if they are people from Freedom, Duty, Loner or even bandits and monoliths. He is not so much interested in money - much more concerned with keeping the peace - keeping things in balance. Now he gets an assignment from a mysterious stranger. He has to find a Guy named Richard Blumme and also 3 missing stalkers. The strange story about the disappearance of the stalkers makes him curious and he accepts the order. The mod focuses very much on the story and there are often several solutions for ending a quest. There are also hints in the PDA and on the map for almost all orders. But the separate solutions are only known, if you read the dialogues carefully. It's not mainly about getting money, buying, selling equipment, weapons, getting money again, etc. If you look around properly, you will find everything you need for your Odyssey through the Zone, right at the beginning...

I absolutely liked to play the mod and the story fascinated me. Even though there are a few annoying passages where you have to go there and back to far away places. But I still think it's worth it. With time, the places change... and the people, too... There are also rare errors and crashes. But you can still play through the mod without any problems. More information I will pack into the archive. I have finally translated everything. I will now create a standalone archive and upload it later. I think tomorrow at the latest you can download it, if you like. I have listened to the criticism of my last translation and this time I try to make everything a bit better. I hope you enjoy the mod as much as I did.

See you later and good hunting, stalker!
