This mod changes the "Rules of Engagement" in the game to a remove the ability for NPC's to notice you at large distances.
Mod name: Rules of Engagement
Version: 0.1b
Creator: KoGar
Created on: Thursday, May 24, 2007
One of the things I found funny about this game, as with most new FPSs, is how a Bandit can hit you between the eyes from 500 meters away while sprinting with a submachinegun. These guys are just street thugs who found, what they thought, was easy pickings...Time to change that!
I have tried to change the engagement rules by tweaking not only the Bandits dispersion ratios but also the m_stalkers (most all NPCs in the game) abilities to see the actor. The .ltx's in this archieve affect the Bandits and Zombies (WAY too accurate for mindless beings ), and decreases all other NPCs detection of the Actor. This is a beta of a possible full scale mod which may include tweaking of all NPCs.
This is not an uber mod that makes you completely invisible to the enemy, it just increases your "survivability".
The ONLY files affected by this mod are: m_stalker.ltx, m_stalker_zombied.ltx, m_bandit.ltx from the creatures folder.
Because no other files are changed you **DO NOT** have to start a new game.
Installation:
** If you DO NOT have a "gamedata" folder in the main Stalker Directory ** :
1- Drag and drop the gamedata folder from the archieve into you main Stalker directory.
2- Make sure to change the second line of the file fsgame.ltx
From this : $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\
To this : $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\
3- Start game.
** If you DO have a "gamedata" folder in the main Stalker Directory ** :
1- Drag and drop the .ltx files inside the .rar archieve into you C:\Program Files\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl\gamedata\config\creatures folder.
2- Start game.
****** I would suggest NOT overwritting any files you have inside your gamedata folder, rename or move them to another location. ********
That is all you need to do. ** Again--Do Not overwrite files you already have in you folders, rename or move those files to another location. **
