Valchion is a action RPG with retro graphics and simple mechanics. It features bright, GameBoy Color-styled visuals, and a (hopefully) memorable soundtrack. It should be released for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. It's also being made with the Blender Game Engine, which features fast game creation and no time spent exporting to an external engine.

Looks really cool.

And sometimes, if placed well, the plot can end being really silly, so don't worry, i'm sure you'll figure a nice way to add it ^^

Well, the graphics aren't as good as I would like - the willow trees are still awkward (to me). I'm glad that you like the way it looks, though.

I would say to use a palette (unlike me, since I learned about palettes after starting the project), as that can really help you conserve colors, as well as show you how many you're using.

Also, each sprite or tile should have around 4 colors, with one of them being transparent, if necessary. That restriction applied to GBC and NES games, if I recall. That combined with a minimal color palette allows you to really see how to color your tiles and sprites interestingly. You could also layer sprites, if I recall, which gave you more colors to work with (like Megaman in the NES games, since there were more than 4 colors in his sprites).

Also, having 'chunky' sprites helps - use as little space as necessary to get the idea of the character or object across. That's pretty retro style, at least I think it is.

Description

I thought that the park didn't really get enough 'play', so I'm planning on expanding it with kind of a dark forest area. I was thinking that it would play into the plot a little bit, where the alien robots are stealing resources from the land and/or dumping waste, thereby corrupting the forest and causing it to turn dark and poisonous. Kind of a stupid plot idea, but I think it looks nice, so I want to tie it in somehow (the green tree in the back doesn't really fit in, though). Forgive the poor weeping willows, as well - I've yet to find a good way to render them.
