WazuBaba's Powercore, reprinted with his kind permission! Possibly a fission cell of some sort? Looks good!
Cheers,
-Dirk
Ah yes, this is a prototype of the new fission core developed by our company. Here's hoping it will be ready for mass production soon!
Looks great! Totally believable as a futurized fission reactor. Compact too. As power becomes an in-game thing, I'll be interested to see how much power (and heat) this and other power sources generate. I'm also interested to know how we'll fuel this thing.
I think I'll slap a WazuTech (Wazucorp? Wazu Industries? :)) fission reactor in the Whale Shark - it'll probably suit her power needs. As for the Queen Mary Ann, I'm thinking something more on the order of a fusion reactor or two will be needed.
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about mass producing these - I'm sure the blueprints will be on hypernet torrent sites within the hour. People will be printing these in their own factories in no time. :P
Well, the official label is WazuTek, however we are considering a merger with TOENet Industries, so it may change in the future. And of course it won't show up on those, I totally did not upload this to said torrent hypersites myself!
Why does the design of this room remind me of Pandora so much? :D
Because it appears to be highly compartmentalized and full of redundant wires?
Well, when thinking of a prototype reactor, one thinks wires; while in truth this uses special space-age sparkle magic to actually transmit the power directly into the ship's energy storage, we thought throwing random wires would appeal more to the public eye.
The space-age sparkle magic (wireless distributor nodes) only transmit power over a certain yet-to-be-defined radius, so wires are necessary if you want to transmit power over any distance.
And you're right, random wires are aesthetically pleasing. :)
By the by, "redundant" here means "foolproof" rather than unnecessary.
