Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

I kinda preferred the old effect... Though with this kind of stuff, it's hard to tell without seeing it in action.

Description

We're tooling around with making the Gap Generator effect be more self-contained, so that mappers won't have to perform as much setup to make sure the Gap Generators are working correctly and don't magically change everyone's weather to impenetrable fog just because you forgot to attach a script somewhere. In addition, we're tooling around with how the effect actually looks. At the moment, the effect is brutally effective (perhaps too much so), but it looks pretty cool. We will tweak it with feedback from our testers. Keep in mind that while you will be pretty badly blinded inside the Gap's sphere of effect, you'll still be able to guess where a GG or MGG is from the outside as before.

Anyway, here's a work-in-progress screenshot.
