Quake 2 is another classic from id software. While not modded quite as much as it's predecessor or Q3A, it is still a blast to play and the mod's on offer are bundles of fun. Just step into Quake 2 Rocket Arena, armed with the new and almighty rocket and rail gun and you will be gibbing for hours on end.If you dig fast paced action, then load up the good ole Quake 2, fire up a mod or two and have some fun!
'Venus' is an unofficial, fandom mission pack to Quake II. It's a set of 31 maps making up the campaign divided on seven units. 'Venus' tells the story of Earthlings who were informed about the unexpected conquest of a large part of the Venus planet by the Stroggs.
Blocky map design, boring enemy placement, baffling design decisions. Can not recommend to anyone.
These maps have the weirdest secrets
I'm convinced no one has found them all
There will always be someone (of course, excluding the author/authors). Many secrets are constructed in such a way that the player isn't limited, for example, to shooting hidden buttons. IMO, the latest stages for Q2 should offer solutions that the world of Q2 players hasn't seen yet (in my case, e.g. Tertiary Objectives).
While I was playing version 0.3 I had this problem: "I wonder how to get to the platform leading to mines? Or how does this platform look like at least? In Inner Nav Lobby objective is to 'find platform that lead to mines', I have killed every enemy, found 3 out of 4 secrets, and explored the whole level a couple of times, but still I do not see this platform, so any hint would be nice, thanks in advance."
I also wonder if this level was changed in 1.0?
As far as I remember, in 1.0 nothing has changed in this aspect. "Lift" isn't only "lift", but also "platform" - this is a note for you and future players. The main objective you mentioned about is where enhanced supertank is waiting for the player (in Outer Nav Lobby).
EDIT: Are you playing version 0.3? Switch to version 1.0 right away, you should be able to complete 20-30 levels. Remember the objectives triggered by the "F1" key or markings are dictated by plot considerations and the desire to make the plot/gameplay more realistic.
Does this work with the Q2 remastered?
I haven't tested this yet. If I receive any signal that Venus is completely unplayable in this version, I'll try to adapt my mission pack to the new edition.
Currently, Venus is completely compatible with KMQ2 (0.2 beta 7) and mostly with original version (3.20). List of errors is in the ReadMe file.
