Quake 2 is another classic from id software.While not modded quite as much as it's predecessor or Q3A, it is still a blast to play and the mod's on offer are bundles of fun. I'm confused, is this a new enemy they introduced in the remaster? The only spider-like enemy I remember are those found on the Ground Zero mission pack.
Arachnid was added from the PS1 version to the new addition - Call of the Machine. but no md5 model was made for him, and because of this he stood out against the general background,in the bad side.
Which episode in the Call of the Machine is this monster found at? I have your mod and would love to see it, but, I must have missed the area in my last play through.

Your old vs new image shows the old model in both images. Or am i misssing something?
Edit: is see now the old new image shows Pak2.pak - the corrected texture for the md2 model
for the md2 model, the texture from the ps1 version of the game was used, which is why the texture is incorrectly displayed in the game (parts of the texture have shifted and show what should not be visible) and I fixed it
and the black stripe in the middle shows how the textures look in pixel form and in smoothed
