Greetings to all who want to play as a dinosaur and eat some humans! As you may or may not know the Primal Carnage team have returned from PAX. PAX being the Penny Arcade Expo, East Coast Edition. Thanks to our sponsor EVGA, we had the privilege to set up shop at their booth and have a few systems running for some dinosaur vs human 1v1 action. At the booth we had 4 classes playable; Scientist, Commando, Raptor and T-Rex, as well as a 3D demo running in full HD using NVidia’s 3D Vision technology. Nothing screams ‘bad ass’ like a T-Rex roaring at your face in 3D (I think a few people at PAX crapped their pants).
We wanted to follow up with this post-PAX press release to thank you, the fans, for helping us bring this game to life with your support, dedication, ideas and insight on our game. It was a great opportunity and amazing feeling to see your reactions when you got to play as a Raptor or T-Rex for the first time - or when you got your first dino kill with the rocket launcher.
After a great weekend at PAX, the reviews are already starting to come in:
“Imagine a 20-player, fast-paced, arcade-style PvP combat game in which one team is made up of a series of gun-packing combat specialists attempting to retake control of an island overrun by dinosaurs…and the other team IS THE F***ING DINOSAURS!! Only T-Rex and Velociraptor were playable in the demo but both seem fully realized with unique abilities like trampling, pouncing, a stunning roar, and a sneak mechanic. Everything is rendered so believably that the first time I turned a corner and found myself face-2-face with a T. rex…I had to check my shorts.” - gfbrobot.com
The pax event went as well as we could have asked; we had lines at our booth with... yes lines! All 600+ flyers were taken away as if they were free candy. People of all ages came to play the game as well – hell, we even had the Ghostbusters and Mr.T playing.
Well, I hope you're not just catering to Nvidia. :P
Our builds/games also run on ATI products, but evga/nvidia are major sponsors of ours so we do a lot of development with their hardware naturally.
liking the behind the scenes shots. good to see you keeping an indie team together!
