You mean floaters? The were new concept to ns 2 for the alien spawning system. As long as i got the idea right it goes somewhat like this.
1. Hive produces floaters.
2. Floaters gently float in the air, until they land on the ground
3. Floater metaphorms into an alien egg.
4. Alien egg hatches and a new skulk is born.
That's something of it.
