Well, It's done and I've just uploaded my 5 level "practice mod". It's about 88mb so I recomend you download the 17mb trailer before deciding to download it. Here's the big thing: This was not a mod I made for other people to play, I made this to learn how to use maxed. I consider it really good although it's somewhat dull on the first level and a half. By the time I't gets to the end though it's got some really cool things. However, there was NO planning whatsoever, and, unfortunatly, No story. I hope to later make a mod that does have a story, and no doubt many people will complain about the lack of story. But another purpose of this is to QUICKLY give people something fun to play.
It's no TC or anything but It's got some interesting things(all done in Maxed). hundreds of animations, a minecart ride, and a killer robot. It gets pretty difficult(especially near the end) but if your good enough it's a lot of fun.
Qender's Practice Mod (level pack, whatever)
============================================
I wasn't going to make a mod quite yet. I wanted to learn how first. I made a few levels following the procedures set forth in some early tutorials. I had a lot of fun playing the first level I made, so I made another one, playing on what I learned as I went on. About halfway through I decided it was worth releasing to the rest of the Max Payne community. After a short while(two weeks), I finished it and uploaded it to a website I use for something else. I put the following post on the Max Payne forum:

anyway, please email me (or post here) on what you thought about it if you do play it. Oh, and by the way, I'm going away to college in about 4 hours, I'm bringing my computer but I don't know how much free time/what kind of internet connection i'll have.

Here's my situation, Apparently the files were very popular, The person who does the hosting for the site they were on took them off after the amount of information transferred reached 4 gigs. I'm not putting them back up there as it would be expensive and I have no money from this mod to find another host or anything.
-----------------------------------
Eventually I just put the whole thing on a cd and mailed it to Joe at 3DRealms in Texas.
Since I am at Calarts now don't really have enough time to make another mod. Maybe during a break or something but I don't know, I really enjoyed doing it so who knows.
There are a few issues with it that can cause problems, although nothing serious:
* in the first level I didn't yet know how to make stairs properly, it's kinda slow going up them and jumping is a bit faster. This is not in any of the later levels.
* the mine cart. The engine does not appear to be made for something quite like this, and while it works for the most part, it will stop moving if you are against the back or generally standing in the wrong place. If you get stuck just move around or jump. If worst comes to worst, load a quicksave.
* um, there's no story. make one up as you go along, or not.
oh, I also released a texture pack of the textures I made for it here, most of them are photographs from around my home: Brandonsachs.com

You can also find me at CalArts wandering around late at night listening to headphones. If you catch me I can attempt to explain the MP3 player is not a CD player, and that I don't have any CD's with me.
This is one of my favorite mods for Max Payne. I love the single player level packs. Currently I know how to make simple and basic mods for Max Payne 1. Since I was 5 years old I spent hours and hours downloading mods for Max Payne 1 and 2 and for other games like Half-Life 1 and 2 as well.
The modding community of these games has always been something very important and special to me.
