GTA LX stands for GTA Loader eXtreme and as the Squidgy Software webpage says, "It's more than just a Front-End." GTA LX's feature list is much to long to list here, but I can confidently say that you need this util if you want to easily use new GTA maps and addons. Not only does it allow you easily add and remove any of the new maps, but it also allows you to view many of the files.

Installation For Upgrade
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Delete the \Help directory from the GTA LX direcotry and then unzip into the GTA LX directory, the help directory should be re created.
If you have modified files in your GTADATA directory
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Restore all the orignal *.cmp;*.fxt;*.gry;*.g24;mission.ini files and remove any other non-original files with the above names from the GTADATA directory. This is because GTA LX will delete all non original files when you use it's restore function. You can run GTA LX and refer to the help page 'Finding Which Files Are Installed.html' to see what will happen when you restore.
e.g If you have nyc.cmp;sanb.cmp;vice.cmp;mymap.cmp in the GTADATA directory then mymap.cmp will be deleted when you use Restore. The other 3 files share the name of the original CMP files and so will be treated as the originals (unless backups exist with the filename:'*.??_' i.e the last character of the backup's extension is '_'.
BUGS
^^^^
*256 colour bug, CMP viewing (looks a bit off colour).
*Win NT4 can't access long filenames/directories on a mapped network win'95/98.
*Can't get all info if destination drive is read only. (Unconfirmed)
*Selecting File Type In Viewer Save Dialog Doesn't change file type - Must manually type the filename extension.
*F1 doesn't open help.
*A Newly created/updated GLX is not installed, the previous version is. This happens if you install the ini imediatly after creating the glx. For some reason it doesn't actually save the GLX until 1 second after the process, watch your HD light. This must be something to do with the way Windows writes INI files. An alternative format is being looked into.
*If probe box is flashing red, and you change to another dir without ini and/or glx it continues flahsing.
*Help button doesn't open internal browser. If it opens your browser instead and you have IE3/4 email me with the exact version of browser you use and the version number of 'shdocvw.dll' in your system directory.
Distribution of GTA Loader eXtreme

If you have a web site or FTP space you may host the gtalx101.zip / gtalx101.exe as long as you email me with the address of your first page/directory and the entire path to the zip/exe file.
You will then recieve a link to both of these addresses on the Squidgy Software Download page for GTA LX.
