A freeform space-based realtime strategy game where the player controls groups of starships and fighters. The game is built around a starmap which the player must rid of all enemy ships, while completing storyline and side missions. During this quest, stations around the map can be used to purchase ships, weapons and modules. The enemy will be trying to seize control of your stations, and take the sector for themselves. Through a variety of missions, you must capture stations and push forward until the Dust Zone is safe once again.

Report RSS Dev Blog #19: A Few Things Happened

It's been a while since my last update here. If you've not been following Dust Fleet anywhere else, you might be surprised to learn that a lot has happened!

Posted by on

The past year has been a bit of a whirlwind for Dust Fleet, so here's the short version:

  • April 2022: Freedom Games got in touch about Publishing Dust Fleet.
  • June 2022: I left my job to become a full time game developer.
  • June 2022 - now: Work on Dust Fleet proceeds at a vastly accelerated pace.
  • Today: Dust Fleet is being exhibited at PAX East.
  • Also today: While PAX East is on, there's a Dust Fleet Demo you can try right now!

There's also plenty of new stuff to see in the game!

The starmap visibility radius of ships and stations has been vastly improved, and the whole UI overhauled. Juddering and lockups have been smoothed away making turns a buttery smooth experience.
