You are sent to war-torn Africa to assassinate The Jackal, a mysterious arms dealer who has rekindled conflict between local warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the warring factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

Description

Remember the good old days when 3-D shooters were starting to bloom? back in the day when the Nintendo 64 was brand spanking new, and games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark ruled the hardcore Nintendo gamer community? Ah yes, wasnt it the complex which was everyone's all-around favorite map? yes, i think it was... well it was MY all around favorite map!! :D I present to you, the Savannah spy complex, a training facility designed after the complex from Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. More so Perfect Dark. Remember how Rareware took the liberty of extending the complex by 0.75% by adding a "hidden" ladder to an upper level in the back of the complex, where, in goldeneye, there used to be a camouflaged wall? Well i expounded on that by opening up the entire roof, as well as the water flooded basement! This is my only submission under a category other than the wtf award, submitted to the Nostalgia award.

Just played through it; not bad at all. The room with all of the bunkbeds kinda threw me off. Also you should put some sort of lights to highlight the ramps in that room. I think in PD one of them was lit yellow, but I'm sure a regular light would suffice, or even a sign. I didn't like the mounted weapons though, but that is just personal preference. Anyway, nice work.

the bunk beds room was disproportionate from the start, it was too big and empty to leave it as such, so i made it a living quarters. then i did similar to the room with the official basement, but made it more like a camp.

While I do recognize some parts of the complex, it feels extremely WIP, there are flickery textures just about everywhere, and you can get stuck easily on some areas of the map. To kill the flicky textures, just move one part of the flicky walls inwards or outwards a tiny little bit, it's hardly noticable, and gets rid of the annoying flickering. As for the areas of getting stuck...there are too many to really list. But one which first stood out to me was when you go into the flooded water area, trying to come out of the water onto some of the terrain sections, it's very hard to get out, simply smooth the terrain and that will fix the problem.
I also agree about adding more lights to the place, while indoor levels in far cry 2 don't really need lights since it's not that dark no matter what time of the day it is, lights bring more of a contrast and can actually make areas feel darker outside of the lit up area thus giving a sense of reason for having the lights in the first place.
Nice job on the layout anyway, but it is far from finished in my opinion.

you are correct, sit. i had trouble getting the proportions right due to the nature of the preset wall sizes and whatnot. i have a few days to replace the flickery walls. some of them can be deleted and replaced with longer walls, some of them cant, and i dont know if moving them will help entirely or not, because it will leave gaps.

vote: gaps: you look up and can see through the wall, through the complex, into the sky. good or bad? i said bad. the trade off was flickering walls.

How do i petition ubsoft to update the game with a mega patch to revamp the map editor to include an object designer tool? *sigh*

okay never mind that, working with the limitations of the map editor is tough. my PC lags like hell with the lighting... i guess it's just me, but i will try to add more lights. the map plays smoothly enough during the day though.

terrain is fully WiP, i barely just plopped it in and down and up. what casts a yellow light other than the fire pit?

okay so i am all about suggestions. i've fixed as many flashy walls as i could find, and removed the turrets (i never really wanted them in the first place, but it seemed like i needed to fill the space), and i am thinking of moving and removing a lot of props.

input?

Back at last. Downloading new version; get back to ya soon. Rating totally tanked eh? Don't worry about that; the competition is coming to a close I suppose that usually happens due to some kind of countercompetitiveness (yeah I just made that word up).

It seems a little cleaner then the last version for sure. Nice to see the mounts gone. You must have put some more light sources because the performance is much slower then it should be. I can't remember how the last version was, and maybe my comp is crapping out for some reason. 0_o The best advice I could give on this one would be to remove most of the lights and make it a daytime map.

it is only night time for the purpose of the competition. you know, accuracy. this is based on perfect dark. perfect dark had a black sky. this is the next best thing.

i'll keep this version on as a souvenir. but sure, i'll throw in a daytime version.

Is that all? lol i personally hate that large bunk bed room, since it's disproportionate to the game it came from... but then again, i DID give it all that "african flavor" stuff, and it looks like a living quarters and whatnot... :P

seeing as how i never got around to uploading a daytime version, i will not, unless it is wanted. does anyone or anything or anywhere think this map is good enough to play, as long as it were daytime/no lights?

cuz if no one wants to play it ANYWAYS, then i wont even bother.
