Briefing: The local civil unrest has created harsh times for the factions and drastic measures need to be taken. Liberty island is one of the last uncontrolled areas along the harbour and both the UFLL and APR see it as an iconic landmark that would boost support and morale to whichever faction control it. Despite the statue is in decay and the gardens have grown wild, both factions launch an assualt on the island, the UFFL base themselves in the settlement at the north end of the island and the APR set up a base camp at the statue. You are on your own, hold against the other faction at all costs as there will be no reinforcements!
This is the first Farcry 2 map i have released, in time for the Moddb (www.moddb.com) Farcry 2 mapping competition. Submitted to the 'Real World Landmarks' category. Based of the latest Google map, i have made it as accurate as possible but because i am using Farcry 2 data, i went for a slightly decaying appearance. The gardens have grown wild, the grassy open areas have not been mowed in some time and the Statue of Liberty is decaying (it's actually made out of big brown rocks but hey!). I found that building the outer island and the statue the hardest because I was not working with straight box-shaped lines, instead I had angles and curves to deal with so this was most difficult. However, i feel that overall, i achieved it pretty well and it still looks quite neat (just don't look to close! Ha ha!) Because both factions start in completely different locations, i have tried to balance them so the game is fair. APR start on the first floor of the statue located in the south with a small base camp mostly built of sandbag cover positions and the existing features. There is a single staircase at the front of the statue (the southern-most part of the map). But, to disallow a single choke points, UFLL players can get to the first floor by one of the several ladders dotted around the perimeter, all of which cannot be seen by APR already on the first floor. However, the APR have three exposed mounted M249 machine turrets placed on the outer walls that are meant to cover the ground from approaching vehicles but can turn just enough to cover the approaching areas of the first floor. There is enough cover though for approaching UFFL players and because the turrets are exposed a sniper can easily take them out. UFLL players will still need to watch out for APR on the second floor of the statue, they can get up there by two ladders on the south side of the statue and so is not accessible to approaching UFFL players. Both teams have a small dock nearby their spawn positions that each house two boats, a M249 swampboat and a M-19 (grenade launcher) fishing boat. The swamp boat is useful for drivebys and quick assaults but the fishing boat is useful for fire support to soften up the enemy or larger assaults but is slow and vulnerable to RPG fire. I decided to give each team a dune buggy rather than a weapon mounted vehicle because the dune buggy is more manuverable in the tight paths and more resistant to environment damage which occurs often because of mounting or dismounting the raised paths. The middle of the island is mostly overgrown garden but in a wider area of the path there is a small fortification where Uprising point B is located. This position is well defendable by either team with mounted and partially covered 50.cal machine guns at either end, approaching teams have limited but available cover from these guns. But the weak positions are from the east and west, where there is nothing but jungle, good cover for attacking players and little cover for players defending. The UFFL base is the settlement in the north, it is very wide and there are plenty of buildings for snipers, so attacking APR players will need to be cautious. Again, UFLL have 4 mounted M249 guns three are located at the front line of the settlement and one at the back. The major disadvantage for APR players is that there is little cover on approach so there needs to be degree of strategy.
Anyway, enjoy my map and please, leave lots of comments or email me at hlifehotdog@gmail.com

It aint pretty, but it takes some serious coconuts to attempt a map like this. 2014 though??? lol.
I started trying to make the statue of liberty, but at the time due to not really knowing what resources I could use and what techniques to use, it ended up looking like crap. However I reckon that block01 object in Detail Objects one would be able to make the statue of liberty, with a fair amount of precision, however it would take a looooong time to do, let alone do right.
I'll give this map a download once I finish off my final map, however I'm not really expecting much.
