With nuclear apocalypse looming over the world, several vaults were constructed to contain the best and brightest of humanity. By being shielded from the imminent death, the offspring of these people could reclaim and repopulate the Earth. However, before the entire network could be completed, nuclear war broke out. One of the vaults became militaristic and technology-driven. Using their superior weapons, they were able to claim the surrounding wasteland. The members of this vault formed the Brotherhood of Steel, an organization dedicated to unlocking new and better technologies.

Fallout Tactics is an incredible game that focusses on tactical combat set in the Fallout Universe. The engine used in this game is incredibly beautiful with a depth of combat that is unmatched by many games in the genre (except for Jagged Alliance 2). The atmosphere of the game is brilliant and captures both the Fallout "vibe" as well as the feeling of being part of the Brotherhood of Steel perfectly. The progression systems, combat options, tactical encounters and usage of the SPECIAL system are well-created.

The only major drawback of Fallout Tactics is that RPG mechanics take a backseat and the C of SPECIAL (i.e. Charisma) for example is seldom used, but at the same time there are actual story choices that have a large impact on the outcome of the game. Just don't expect to talk your way out of encounters.

Overall, Fallout Tactics is a very underrated game (compared to the first two) and absolutely deserves your attention if you love the first two games. It is a true Tactics game brilliantly adapted for the Fallout Universe and using 90% of everything that makes Fallout unique.

A really better game that what most people are saying.

A VERY GOOD looking game, one of the most beautiful isometric game I played.

Super cool features, like proning, crouching, climbing, controling a whole squad and having strange party members, like ghouls, deathclaws, supermutants and robots! That fits perfectly in Fallout universe.

Super great tactic combats, with many replayability. A good atmosphere and progression.

Some real problems, like NO DIALOG TREE AT ALL, No real use of almost all non-combat skills and some traits attributes Charisma. The feel is that the game is somewhat broken, and it is not entirely false as I think they ran out of time a bit when making it.

Nice combat focused Fallout game

Honestly, despite lacking any and all RPG, this is a fantastic game, its just absurdly strange how it lacks co-op multiplayer, which would have easily made it the best classic fallout.

Best of the Fallout Oldies in my opinion. Shame and odd it is not considered canon lore :/

its ******* sucks

Excellent game that focuses on perfecting the combat in the Fallout 1 and 2 series. This game is mission-based instead of playing in an open world like Fallout 1 or 2. Not so much an RPG in that aspect. But you can pick a team and your teammates gain levels in the same manner as in other Fallout games. And you still have the freedom to choose in what way you want to complete the missions: stealth, long-range, short-ranged, using traps, or combining all of these because you now control a team of several characters! The atmosphere is the same as in Fallout 1 and 2: gory, dark, mature.
It contains a good amount of missions that have been carefully designed in order to provide a terrific turn-based SPECIAL (Strenght, Perception, Endurance, etc.) combat experience.
Underrated must-play for any Fallout fan.
