Darkout has been in development since July 2011 by a small group of people from very different countries (UK, Southafrica, France, The Nederlands...) behind the game there is Adrian Banninga, an industry veteran who has been working in the CG field since 2000.
The main features of the game are:

So is there not any sort of demo or anything? I'd love to try this game out, but $15 is a bit steep for a game that I know so little about with others like it (such as Starbound) already more well known. None of my usual sources have even heard of it and I just stumbled on it by accident really. I've seen in the forums discussions of people who can't even run the game with all sorts of strange things being required (latest video drivers, disabling DPI scaling -- I've NEVER heard of anything ever actually requiring this compatibility setting before -- and third party applications) and several saying that even after all that the game won't run. I'm definitely not spending $15 on this without knowing whether or not it will even run on my computer...
You should watch some of the videos available about the game like say the Dad's Gaming Addiction one: Youtube.com. Just try to find relatively new ones as last to versions overhauled large parts of the game. While I only played the beta the my impressions about the game still seem valid looking at above video: The game is graphically superior to terraria but this has the disadvantage of making it harder to make out the blocks game world is made out of that has consequence of making it harder to target and place stuff. The game starts ridiculously hard and expect to die constaly, especially at night/darkness, until you manage to set up your first shelter and even then you continue to die constantly when outside gathering resources. Both the interface and controls are a bit clunky. As for difficulties running it, I had none and my computer is 5 year old WinXP machine with only modern part being the year and half old Radeon 7700 series card. My drivers arent the latest either.
The constant dying was the reason I stopped playng eventually as it was no fun (I died at least 20-30 times before I managed to set up shelter and further 100 times over week or so I played). If the that and clunky interface aren't your thing, I suggest you either wait few more versions or look for alternatives.
So, Darkout was on sale at IndieGala today for $2.99. However, it was back at regular price not 4 hours later, even though the GalaRep posted that it was a week long deal on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1usr0f/galastore_indie_games_week_darkout299_afterfall/).
A lot of people are, of course, very unhappy about this.
Anyone know how I can get ahold of this deal or why it was pulled from the Gala store?
Were steam keys sent? Or do we need to ask for them? I never got any email.
Nm I figured it out went to regular website collection page and picked steam key.
can u explain me how to do?
make sure you are logged into desura website. Then go to www.desura.com/collection and it should show your games on a list. Im not sure how to get to that page from the site though. Click on keys by the game and generate a steam key.
Hello dear Devs and a "fröhliche Weihnacht" (Merry Chrismas) to all of you.
My Matter is simple: Still no Steam Key received.
Should i contact Desura Support? Or is that a Matter you can Solve?
Best Regards
