Cycles3D is a game where you pilot a futuristic motorcycle that creates large walls around other motorcycles to force them to crash into your wall.
Cycles3D was originally created around the year 2000 as a pet project to learn 3D development. Since its free release that year, the game was downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. No attempts were made to update it....
...until today. Unlike the original version which relied heavily on content from the movie "Tron", this version has fully original multimedia content, and uses the Unity game engine. The original developer of Cycles3D, now president of Gamieon Inc., has brought the name under Gamieon's wing.
It is our hope that this version will be the following:
Cycle3D is also open source! Get it at Github.com (requires Unity development tool)
The second alpha of Cycles3D 2 is now available with these changes:
- Fixed camera controls to properly move based on mouse movements
- Added support for loading very simple custom cycle meshes (in Collada format only) and applying a single color to the entire mesh. Comes with the original Cycles3D model in Collada form. You can access this in the Options menu.
The Git repository at Github.com has also been updated.
Here is a screenshot of the original Cycles3D model in use:
The custom model loader is pretty much customized to work for that model, and any other model you'd like to use would have to put in the CycleModels folder in the game's data folder.
This will probably be the last update for a while.
The first alpha build of Cycles3D 2.0, with basic multiplayer network support, is now available for download! The source code is also available on GitHub...
Cycles3D has all the very basic functionality needed for network play, and just needs more internal testing and cleanup before anything can be released...
Most of the necessary infrastructure; including a console system, in-game chat, waiting room, dedicated server and more are now undergoing internal testing...
While the user interface and game play are still very unpolished, Cycles3D isn't very far away from being playable over the internet!
Cycles3D 2.0 is a free network playable game where players can pilot a futuristic motorcycle which generates a trail, and lure other players into running...

I tried this out. Pretty fun, although could much better in multi, still need to test that out. You might want to work out the bugs, set the camera to bird view by default and maybe make some other, smaller maps, because probably I can only try it against one opponent and the current map with bots is Huge.
Keep up the good work.
me likes. good video too.
Creat job for sofar people! Tracking ;)
I kinda wish you'd just go all out and attatch this directly to tron, just because the original designs are so damn good (89, legacy, whatever). I know why you wouldn't, but... these current bikes ain't doin it for me :s
Well it's either this or they get sued for copyright and no game, no nothing.
It's just a skin anyway. The game is the same.
If you look at games like Armagetron or GLTron, you can see that the risk of lawsuit is sort of low. But I agree with you, and there's really no point in attaching it to tron :)
looks fun
can't wait til release.
