Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes is a game developed by Ritual Entertainment, which acts as an expansion pack to Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. It makes up a series of eighteen unconnected single-player missions, with blazing fast action and intense firefights. It includes new weapons and re-skinned and re-animated versions of Counter-Strike weapons.

I don't follow, this is a CS:CZ (The newest of the three CZ's...) skin backported to CS:CZDS?

Well, nice job on that, but I do prefer the original RITUAL Entertainment models... Not the Turtle Rock Studios one.

The guys that worked on Ritual have a specific way of doing things right on the quake engines... =)

Turtle Rock Studios... well... they can use the "detail texture" that was new for the engine at the time (or not? since source was released shortly after...). So, Condition Zero is basically Counter Strike 1.6 retextured and using this new feature, detail textures, that help a lot on detailing the levels... But the level geometry, gameplay and everything, still is CS 1.6.

The RITUAL Condition Zero is a different story... RITUAL was a company that did quake-based games and expansions, and GOOD ones... (Scourge of Armagon, SiN, Heavy Metal, Blair Witch, Star Trek Elite Force II, Legacy of Kain: Defiance...)

They did lost VALVe support for their ongoing Counter-Strike Project... Because one of the key programmers had left the company... And VALVe put the title on complete rework by the hands at Gearbox... later, gearbox transferred the development of the game to Turtle Rock Studios... This is a new version, excluding all the new gameplay and storytelling that the RITUAL version was aiming.

And the unfinished version of RITUAL was later released as "deleted scenes", without any of the lacking features for a "complete" game.

Well... someday i'll find some modders wanting to help me on making a complete overhaul mod, that solves the AI issues, the 3 gamebreaking bugs and finally create a decent FINALE for the game, since right now the game doesnt have one...

But why not port this to a more modern engine?

"Well, nice job on that, but I do prefer the original RITUAL Entertainment models... Not the Turtle Rock Studios one."

The CZ models are the same as the CZDS ones. Only difference is the texture size and colours. Nothing more.

Your timeline of the game development cycle is messed up.
Rouge Entertainment > Gearbox > Ritual Entertainment > Turtle Rock > Valve

"And the unfinished version of RITUAL was later released as "deleted scenes", without any of the lacking features for a "complete" game."

No, It's feature complete, all though some of those features are slightly rushed. According to Castle (Ritual Entertainment Level Designer).

"AI issues, the 3 gamebreaking bugs and finally create a decent FINALE"

At the moment we don't have access to the source code for CS:CZDS. So we can't fix any of the issues unless the whole game is re-made using the normal HL SDK. The best we can do right now is to make maps for it, models, textures, and the proprietary material system. Basic modding stuff.
