Description
Command Heroes is a local split-screen & online multiplayer, co-op/versus, Action RTS with destructible environments. Battle it out in a mash-up between a twin-stick action platformer & RTS blend. Play with 1-3 friends for 4-player split-screen action, or a custom map with up to 10 players & AI.
History
This started because my kids and I wanted a fun, local 4-player game we could all enjoy together. At the same time, my oldest son (14yrs) is interested in coding and I love any opportunity to teach world-useful trade skills to them. I came up with the idea, and he kept pouring more content ideas on top (if you ever see a faction of Space Dinosaurs, you'll know his ideas made it in). I coded it bit by bit with him over my shoulder, and I knew we had something worth pursuing when we'd launch it to "test" a new feature, then 2 hours and lots of laughter later we realized we were still playing and only meant to check out some new weapon projectile.
The AI was initially only meant for me to have enemies to test against while no one was available to test with me, but grew into a very complex brain of team "concerns", personality influences on decisions, as well as several other environmental factors.
Once I've emptied all the ideas in my head into the game, I do see it as an excellent competitive gaming title.
