Apocalyptic is a small top down survival game built in Scirra Construct set after a nuclear catastrophe, and most of the worlds population is wiped out. The player must build a shelter inside a building, and then collect resources to survive against zombie attacks and rival NPCs.
New screenshots of the rebooted version of Apocalyptic. Introducing grid based building... builder... to construct custom houses and fully working survivor AI for NPCs. Find them hiding in the wild and recruit them as guards or soldiers.
So how will the AI work exactly?
In what way? As in what is used to make it tick, or how it will act?
Oh ops i mean how will they act? and what way will you recruit them
At the start of the game, when the world generates, they will spawn in random parts of the map. Until the player finds them (and it's possible that the player will never find some) they will wander around and attempt to defend themselves. If the player does find a survivor, he can "bribe" he/she with food or other resources. Once recruited, you can give them orders such as short range patrol, long range patrol etc.
Oh, and I just thought I'd point out that the AI will not have all its features in the 0.1 alpha release, but most of the basics will be there.

When we release version 0.1 alpha, you will be able to find the AI in the wild and recuit them using a resources system of some type. If all goes well, we should also have an early command system implemented where you can set the AI to Short Patrol or Long Patrol. You can't directly control them like a strategy game, they kinda wander around themselves a bit.
Later features we would like to inlcude is resource collecting and other advanced orders. Also some time we want to make a sort of "leader" NPC AI, capable of building houses and starting his own faction. Still plans, though. NPCs are very generic at this time, and don't have their own names or look.
