Alpha Squad is a hybrid shooter/adventure game that mixes elements from Smash TV, Zelda and Secret of Mana. This along with our own special blend of herbs and spices makes Alpha Squad the must have Xbox Live Indie Game this year.
∙ An engaging storyline that delves into the issues surrounding Alpha Squad and the world in which they live. Play by yourself or with a friend... or three!
∙ Customizable progress path. You choose what levels you want to complete, which in turn affects the way the story progresses.
∙ A special arcade-style "Arena" mode, where you and three other friends can compete for the highest score, while surviving waves of enemies on random levels.
∙ A large world, with challenges ranging from exploratory missions to small arenas, creating a level of game play depth to provide hours of entertainment.
∙ Unforgettable weapons, ranging from staples such as the Rocket Launcher to new behemoths such as the Black Hole Cannon.
∙ Music provided by the incredible Stemage of Metroid Metal coupled with the beautiful artwork of industry veterans: Gonzalo Ordóñez, a contributor to UDON's fantastic Street Fighter Encyclopedia artwork, Pritesh Rane the talented character sprite animator and "Ektanadu", our mysterious background artist with several completed professional titles.
∙ Secrets hidden throughout the game providing entertainment away from the core storyline and perhaps with unintended consequences.∙ A four player Arena mode, challenging players to survive waves of enemies on random levels.
∙ Find and rescue damsel's in distress. Each rescue helps to complete a large portrait image you can show off to your friends. Way better than achievements...
∙ Additional features will be revealed as we get closer to release date.
Alpha Squad is back in peer review on the App Hub forums. Should the game pass peer review, we should see the game released within 48 hours, which would put us on the Xbox marketplace on late Friday or Saturday this week.I am really excited. This took fifteen months of work, between working a full time job and trying to save to develop this. It was extremely exausting work, but hopefully some of our efforts will pay off.
Now that the game is complete for release, it will allow me to step back a bit and watch how the gamers respond to the project. Once released, I will take in any and all feedback and work toward adding or changing the mechanics of the game in a future patch until we have the game that fulfills the majority of expectations.
I also need to start posting additional media of the game. It has been awhile since I have posted any screenshots or juicy media, however last week I brought in John McAllister, who is one of the best Arcade gamers in the world period. The guy holds world records in Asteroids, Joust, and Robotron to name a few. I brought him in to get his impressions on Alpha Squad and to submit the inaugural "world" highscore for the game :-)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNhaqWPZ920
Status update on Alpha Squad. Part of the Indie Winter Games Uprising.
Almost there! I just wanted to give you a quick heads-up on how things are going with development.

Just bought this game a couple of days ago. I'll admit, the art style and classic feel is what drew me into it, but the game definitely plays equally as good. I didn't think that the story would be so deep (granted, I haven't beaten it yet), which definitely took me by surprise. And the humor! God, I love it!
Lackey: I FOUND SOMETHING!!!
Clint: That's a sock.
Lackey: I hate my life...
This game does have some faults, but I honestly ignore them. One problem I have that irks me is the Armory, however; sometimes a certain weapon will not show up when I really want it. Either that, or the Flamethrower went out of stock. I hope to see more from Dragon Divide in the future.
Damnit, everybody knows the real indie game scene is on PC. I really want this game, but no Xbox for me.
