Aces over Europe is a self-installing mod from European Air War and focuses on the air war over the period of time from 1943 to 1945. There will be the possibility to fly on the most famous WWII fighters and in particular on famous planes piloted by aces with the insignia of the era. ----- Notes on European Air War: European Air War (EAW) was released on October 31, 1998 published by Hasbro, under the developers name, MicroProse. It was a marvel, with 20 Flyable planes and a possible 256 planes in the air at one time, out beating any other WWII Combat Sims of the time and afterwards. At twelve months old it was considered a classic but still full price on the store shelves. Given that it's had a few budget re-release's; on July 24, 2000 by Hasbro “Classic Series” and on June 8, 2001 by Infogrames, then again in 2002 by Atari. It's a must have if you're even vaguely interested in WWII combat flight simulators, or think you might like to try

Hello. I have no mouse cursor on the main menu, therefore can not choose anything. I can only hit escape on my keyboard to leave the game.

Hi,
what is the brand of your mouse? I have a lLogitech and I haven't problem.
What is your operating system? Win 7 or Win 10?
A known mouse bug is this:

Mouse pointer on screen
The desktop mouse pointer will sometimes appear in the center of the screen, frozen. The game will work fine and you can still use the in-game mouse to move around.
Usually a game restart will fix this problem temporarily. If not try turning off in Windows; 3D Pointer or Animated Pointers or Shadow Pointer. You can also try to use the Windows default pointers as a last resort.

Please, consult the extras directory in the game ...
Bye

Hello,

I am using a Razor mouse from ibuypower (manufactured by Microsoft). Running Windows 10 with Radeon RX 480 Graphics (8GB).

Tried all your suggestions to no avail. But thanks for the tips.

Weird thing is I own the original European Air War on retail and it runs without any problems.

I'll keep experimenting and if I find a remedy I'll post it here in case anyone else should run into the same problem.

Thanks again.

Hello,
You can also try installing Aces over Europe on the original European Air War.

I also had this same Mouse Cursor on the Main Menu Bug on Windows 10. To fix it just run your "eaw.exe" as administrator

If after that the two mouse cursors become invisible and you can't click on menu buttons, just Cut "eaw.ini" file from you game folder and paste on desktop. Then run the game for it creates a new eaw.ini file and the cursor will be fixed. Then copy the "eaw.ini" that you paste in your desktop and place again into your game folder and replace the new generated 'eaw.ini" file. (As I told before new eaw.ini generated by "1.28C MP02.exe" makes the game crash so use the original one)

Thanks Modread for this Great Update!

(I updated my comment since to fix this bug I also had to do the second step cause the two cursors become invisible after I run the game as administrator)

Found a definitive fix for the Mouse Bug on Windows 10:

First install the game outside Program Files(x86) or else "eaw.ini" is blocked by Windows 10 for edition. So I installed at: C:\Aces over Europe

Then, Run "eaw.exe" as Administrator (It will fix Static Mouse Pointer on Screen)

So if you run the game and all the Mouse Cursors are invisible so you can't click on Menu Buttons (It happened with me) do the following:

First make a backup from your "eaw.ini" file then open this "eaw.ini" with Notepad and copy all the text lines inside it, so select all the text inside and press "Control + C" to copy. Then delete this eaw.ini file and run the game so a new "eaw.ini" will be generated that will fix the invisible mouse but will make the game crash when any mission starts. So open this new generated "eaw.ini" with notepad and delete all the text inside and paste the text from the original one you copied before, save the file and the invisible mouse is definitely fixed.

It's working perfectly to me right now, no more bugs :)

I've been somewhat occupied with the holidays and haven't had a chance to chime in on here. Thanks Fat-Larry and Modred for the information. I did try Fat-Larry's advice, yet I still suffered from a ctd when starting to fly the mission.

The mouse in menu works great now though.

I think the crash might be due to the fact that I did not try it on a fresh install of the sim. I used the older one which I've been fiddling with. That or it's not installed on an internal drive. Not sure.

I'll be trying once again after the holiday ruckus is over.

Thanks again !
