0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. It's a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of twelve ancient civilizations, from Iberia to Mauryan India, each depicted at their peak of economic growth and military prowess. the starting positions look a bit close to me but other than that it looks like a good map

It depends a lot on the map size, as you can see this is a small map. Larger maps with the same number of players will of course result in bigger space between them :)

What I feel it's really important is to optimize the AI to make the game more fluid, and (once that is done) make maps bigger. I dunno if that's suposed to be a small map or not, but I feel maps shouls be even bigger than in AOE3, where they were far smaller than in AOE1, AOE2 and even AOM. I feel Age of Mythology has the best map sizes ever. Not small and not too big

Currently, the existing Random maps are being overhauled and improved. This shows the new "Continent" random map. If you have any suggestions or bug reports about the random maps, feel free to share it with us in our forums.
