Hey I'd just like to congratulate, Steelwind, e-labs.ecion and San-J on making it to the Trial round of becoming a moddb staff member as a feature writer!

The purpose of this thread is for you guys to say your hellos and give them a nice warm welcome as they start writing new features for moddb.

Here's a few things about them:

Steelwind wrote: I currently have two lives, each with very different personas. One life is online, where I go by the alias “Steelwind” and manage a Half-Life 2 modification called Resistance and Liberation. The other life is that of an insurance salesman who runs his own business out of Houston, Texas. One of these lives has a future. Being in the ever so exciting world of group health insurance, I tend to live vicariously through my internet moniker. However, freelance writing doesn’t pay the bills. Which would you choose? Some may be contempt branding me schizophrenic, but I rather characterize myself as perpetually evolving. Into what? I’ll tell when you I get there.

e-labs.ecion wrote: I was born in Berlin, Germany back in 1986, when Berlin was still divided by the "Mauer" (also known as the Berlin-Wall). I can't really recall what kind of impact that had on me or if it had any at all. Most of my life I lived somewhere outside of Germany, since my dad is a foreign correspondent, which meant that I was going to move around a lot. In fact by the time I reached the age of four, I had already lived in Africa and the US for six months to a year, each. At the age of seven I moved to Nairobi, Kenya. This was to be my home for the next three years, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I learned a lot about racial equality and different cultures during my time there, which in turn helped me feel comfortable around people with different ethnic backgrounds. After my time in Kenya, I moved back to New York, which is where I am still living today. New York is also the place where I found my love for computer games, generally through buying Half Life. Which wasn't my first game in that sense, but rather my first real FPS. But enough about computer games for now.
Besides moving around so much, which generated my interest in traveling and seeing more of the world, I also try to spend as much time as I can with my 26 year old brother, who just finished his college career in Germany and now works as a Controller for the Bundeswehr (the German army). My brother and I have a very close relationship. However, we don't see each other as often as we would like, instead we talk a lot on the phone or stay in e-mail based contact. It wasn't always like this though, as we occasionally fought when I was younger. I am assuming that that's how brotherly love works.
The above text is somewhat talking about different points and times, which are scattered through out my life but it seems, that exactly that is one of the characteristics of my life. It takes me all over the world, allows me to meet new people and experience many new things. With that thought, I am going to stop this short biography. I hope you enjoyed that small insight into my life.

And I would ask San-J to post a little about himself yet since he hasn't written me a bio yet.

Welcome guys!

Aww man... I just wrote an insanely long bio about myself and then hit the add reply button in the lower right, rather than the post reply to the left of this box... :'(

Anyhoo, I was saying how much I appreciate not only being part of moddb now, but also the kind words of welcome. This is an awesome community that the admins have got going here, and being a prominent part of it is one of the more exciting things that's happened to me in the past few years.

Here is my bio (not as long as the original though):

I'm Sangye Ince-Johannsen, a 15 year old guy from Ashland, Oregon. My pen name "San-J" is how you pronounce Sangye, because know one seems to be able to say that one. I've been a huge fan of gaming since I first played Wolfenstein 3d. Since then, my all time favourite games have been No One Lives Forever 1, and Max Payne (1&2). Since this is a mod site, I probably should give a quick ode to those select mods that really dropped my jaw. Wizard Wars (for Half-Life) obviously is first on the list, because it is the only mod that I've played for 16 hours straight. Other notable ones include The Specialists (HL), Last Stand, and Forgotten Bunker (both for NOLF). I attend a private catholic school (uggh!) in Medford Oregon. It really isn't as bad as it sounds however, mainly because of the awesome computer programming courses offered here that start with Intro to C++, and go all the way through 3d Game Programming in C++. Our teacher is so skilled that he offers virtually unlimited special classes after we finish the set curriculum. Needless to say, I jumped onto that bandwagon as soon as I could, and now am in the process of writing my own 3d game engine. I have a passion for making games, wether they be mods, or standalone freeware games (of which I've made three: Warplock, Warplock II, and Ninja Bird Hunting). Though it may seem like it, my life doesn't entirely revolve around my aging computer, however. When I'm not in front of my Gateway2000 monitor from '96, I'm out windsurfing and snowboarding, or just chilling to music. I like nearly all musical genres, and can chill just as well to Pink Floyd, as to the Wallflowers or the No One Lives Forever theme song.

I've forgotten what all I wrote in my first bio, so I'll just leave it at this.

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone, and I can't wait to get to work. I've already written a review for NOLF, and two tutorials (6&15), if you want to check them out...

My name is Tibetan for "Buddha" (I'm Buddhist), but I don't have any Tibetan blood. My mom and dad traveled extensively in the east, and came across that name over there, and liked it. There is also a Punjabi/Hindi (not sure) version, spelled "Sanjay"
