Aside from a smartarse I'm a freelance web/multimedia designer. I went self employed this year and recently put my web site live, but I'm currently sifting through the mandatory bugs and tweaks before seeking too much exposure and would greatly appreciate you guys feedback and impressions of it.

The design is pretty much set, I'd just like some thoughts on the text, quality of my work in general and any suggestions. I am aware the site looks like utter cack if viewed in widescreen, I am currently fixing this. The HTML is also vile but as I say, just looking for feedback on the design/feel in general while I fix such issues

cheers in advance

It looks good, but I have to say it doesn't have the sparkle, the bling other people have on their websites... The AJAX carousel entry looks great, and I would hire You as an AJAX coder, however the navigational menu on top and the table headers look well from 2004-5. And yes, the layout is well designed. Interesting, since Your professional work is overall way-beyond the level of Your portfolio. At least from my point of view. Trying to stay constructive, look at some designs here: faveup.com or cgart.com or even deviantart.com .

I like the site, it's very good... but there are 2 things I really don't like... the header and the footer... it just doesn't fit and it's too big. just my 2 cents.

It's not a bug, it's a feature

cheers man, though I have to be honest I've never touched AJAX in my entire life lol the funky lil thing is flash :-D

I've always found that designers with amazing portfolio sites often have quite sterile, lifeless professional work with no personality. I wanted a site which wasn't completely clinical but also didn't overpower the actual projects I've worked on, sort of reach a balance between the two. I'd much rather people said "average portfolio, good project work" then "good portfolio, average project work". Hopefully next year I'll have time to develop something better but like I say it's really more of a short term solution while the business grows.

Cheers for the feedback!

Really nice site, I think it looks great. I especially like the blue wires coming out on the top, I think it gives it a great sense of depth that I always find missing in sites and have a lot of trouble establishing myself. The only thing I have beef with is how it tapers off on the top and bottom, it's not an even transition. I know you said there are tweaks to be done, judging by your talent I'm sure you noticed it but better to mention than not.

I ate the red pill but Morpheus told me it wasn't a chewable so I guess I'm stuck here. Eh.

initially there was a sort of transition between the elements but they made it look too much like a 'piece of art'. It drew far too much attention away from the actual content. There's nothing I hate more than going on a web site where the actual site design is more interesting and attention grabbing that the material/information its making available. I would like to try something a little slicker with the next design, but this some time off :-D

Cheers again, all the comments are really helpful and even if I dont revise the entire site design just yet they're all things that will help with projects in general! Much appreciated!
