Shotty Yeah its a speedy, about 3 hours so far (w/ today included), you're definitely right, it needs work (notice WIP stands for Work In Progress).
Thanks for looking out :)

Great use of palette! It's always interesting to see a style of painting that is completely different from my own.

As you requested crits: On the 'bot wip' you could pay more attention on how it actually works; how the joints turn and come to play when it moves and illustrate that to the viewer a bit more clearly if you intend to make it a working concept.

We've been doing regular thunderdomes on IRC and you're all welcome to join us.

A thunderdome is When we get a set time (60 minutes for example) to do a set topic, and produce the best image possible. It's not competitive though - it's more about pushing your limits, getting better at speedpainting and having fun!

Bottom pic (w/ skull) is a form we were given at school with the question "where do you stand in life? And where do you want to go?", the teacher's expression should be priceless :D

I like that you included time taken with your pictures. Speed is one of my largest stumbling blocks, well that and finishing what I start.
Your drawings look good. Your sense of form seems very strong, maybe time to focus on texture and lighting or more general compositional elements? idk

last pic loaded slow - the three thumbnail sketches of stairways, and throne room - thats the direction I was thinking you should spend more time on.

Resin213 - Thanks man, well people on different forums are saying conflicting things haha.
You're most definitely right about composition - as always, there's something I neglect and it creeps back at me.

Nice! Lot of work, too :).

When you paint humans from photography, do you color-pick from the photo, or do you choose your own. The pallet is very good. What's an average canvas size you use?

SinKing
thanks, I mix my own. I use the color sliders in Lab mode to be exact ;) I paint at about 50%-66% zoom which is about 3K wide.

Hello folks,
I'm saddened to say that I will be discontinuing this sketchbook.
The way the forum is built, it doesnt show that I have updated after I post. plus it's getting kinda boring to scroll through the huge posts anyways.

You can continue watching my progress on my 10 other sketchbooks, among them is my CG HUB sketchbook, or you can check my daily updated blog.

All the best,
Mark Vatsel.

I like a lot of your stuff, but I'm curious to know why you don't put the best in your portfolio? That section of your website seems pretty empty!

Very nice work you've got there. I am studying at a proffessional art school for two years now. Next year I'm starting my palette and photoshop class. Anyway how old are you? I'm 16 and I can make (maybe)almost as good constructions like in your skulls, faces and bodys.
