PLAYING QUAKE 1 MODS Thread

How do I install Quake 1 mods, help needed ASAP! I downloaded a raptor mod and its a PAK0.PAK file, what do I do!

Put it in a subdirectory in the quake folder
Like D:/QUAKE/RAPTOR

(stupid thing wont let me put backslashes!)

all the mod stuff (pak files, etc) go in there

then run quake on the command line with: QUAKE.EXE -GAME RAPTOR
or glquake if you want

What the heck do you use for a mapping tool for Quake 1?

All the old ones seem to have gone extinct, and I'd use WorldCraft, except for the friggin' hack on it that only lets it do Half-Life maps.

Please make me a recommendation, you Q1 ho', you.

I use Worldcraft 1.2. I don't use any other Worldcraft version other than 1.2

It might be hard to find 1.2, but it's the BEST version of Worldcraft there is. I got the old WC12.zip on my hd here

Worldcraft 1.5 is there, but crashes like a Joint Strike Fighter during a stall.

I use WC 1.6. They posted a link to DL the full version somewhere on the qmap.org forums, and I got it. What's good about 1.2?

I have seen a terrorist (remote bomb) mod and a "be a monster" mod,, but could not find them again. Anyone know where they are?

Pull a search on alltheweb.com's ftp.. I believe the remote bomb thing is called "terorist.zip" and the Monster mod is "Byom.zip". Alternately, I have a Morph Monster mod on my lost mods list. I think.

WC1.1A and WC1.2 are HIGHLY stable and fast.

You won't find many lamer's playing Quake online, btw, which is a good thing

I cant play quake online, Gamespy arcade wont find Quakeworld. I played co op once in quake, I remember it was verry laggy. But i do have a rubbish connection speed, highest i can get is 42 kbps

Played NQ Tf back in '97 with 15 players on a 28.8, went fine.

hehe i have been dling a lot of quake mods but a lot dont work with glquake(which is the only one that works with my comp)
