Soo, Yeah... I'm an Oblivion Junkie, and I have an awesome heavily modded Oblivion; Natural Environments, Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul etc. You know, the works. But I can't get enough of it, And I can't WAIT for a new Oblivion Expansion or Oblivion V! I want to explore the surrounding areas around Cheydinnal, the black marshes, see some awesome expansive deserts and stuff. Soooo for all you other Oblivion Junkies out there, Heard any news on some expansions or anything (Besides Knights of the Nine)?

Bethesda has not announced any plans to make The Elder Scrolls V as yet, and they just got done releasing the Knights of the Nine expansion in late November.

I would expect Bethesda to release at least one more expansion to Oblivion if KotN sells well, but I'm sure it will be a while (read: a few years) before we see an Elder Scrolls V.

I was finding myself thinking about TES:V myself earlier today (or this morning, technically)

I've averaged it out that Bethesda releases an Elder Scrolls game an average of every 3 years or so.

Let's hope they don't bodge up the next one. XD

To be honest, Oblivion did a lot of things right and cut down a lot on the critical bugs list. The next one should be even better, provide they don't use that shit damage scaling system again.

Yeah, and they don't make every single character fugly, fix the overly ambitious and underdelivered AI and make the main quest at least slightly more interesting than World of Warcraft.

1: i found the quest interesting
2: the remainder of the oblivion team (the rest has gone to work on fallout 3) has been confirmed that they are working on a fully pimped out expansion pack (not another download pack) for oblivion

I sold my copy of Oblivion back to EB after I beat it.

Silly me.

I only did not sell it yet as I'm waiting for that guy to make the Werewolf modification... otherwise the game is pretty lame compared to the precedor. That said it's still somewhere on the USB HD. Maybe going back to play a bit with my Ryukaissen :D

Well, personnally I thought morrowind was better until I started tweaking Oblivion, Mine has Natural Environments, Crowded Roads, OO Overhaul, Darker Dungeons, Attack and Hide AI, Cities Alive at night, Improvised Weapons, Marts Monster Mod, Living Economy, Burning Kvatch, and better Vampires.

I thought that these mods made it into almost an entirely new game.
Playing the retail version is a pretty shortlived experience, mods definately improve the gameplay. :D

I personally hated oblivion. I loved it when I first started playing, but after some time I noticed its shallowness and horrible story and uninstalled it. I have a love-hate relationship with that game because I keep on uninstalling and reinstalling it again. It's really the mods that make me come back and try to play it again. Hopefully for the Elder Scrolls V they actually make the combat good and the story something more than non-existent.

I stopped playing it because it became a little too intimidating and way too open-ended for me. It started to become like a boring daily chore to go out to Dungeon A to kill Monster B and return Item C. Dungeon crawling isn't the most exciting thing I've had a chance to partake in. I sold it a month or two after I bought it.

Of course, maybe that's just because I prefer the Japanese RPG more than the Western RPG.

Anyway, I think Bethesda Softworks is too busy with Fallout 3 to create another Elder Scrolls at the moment. ;)

Ya, oblivion is a little bit too open for its own good.

Bugsport I've installed tons of mods on oblivion that immensely improve the game, but every time I reinstall and play the game again the shallowness of obilivion always comes out one way or the other. I'll probably reinstall the game again in a week or so when I finish playing R6: vegas. HOpefully by then the huge dark brotherhood mod I've been watching will finally release.

i dont know. i actually like the game as is packaged (ive uninstalled it though, needed space on my computer), excluding the tiling and weird distance textures that can be seen fromfar away, but i fixed that with a mod or two

If I was forced to rate oblivion as is I would probably give it an 8.9 or so. It's really the repetitive oblivion gates, dungeons, and non existent story that really gets to me. Do you know of any new oblivion mods that have come out(since a lot of the good ones aren't on moddb)

I bought oblivion the day it came out, and was bored with it the next day. I was a huge fan of Daggerfall and Morrowind, but oblivion just seemed kinda out of place in the elderscrolls world. The story was boring, and they give you all of this land, BUT THERES NOTHING IN IT! I was both sad and confused, and when I tried to trade it in a week later, the EBgames out here stopped buying back pc games. I got screwed.

The only thing that ruined Oblivion for me was the auto-leveling.

I enjoyed Oblivion far more then most people. One of my favorite things in RPGs, is to heavily customize your character and then just be able to explore and get immersed in a huge world.

thats why i like it
my friends describe as a wandering gamer
i spend more time exploring and taking in the sights.
and with a would as huge and open (plus randomized forests) as oblivion, it is technically my exploring mecca

morrowind's story was very well presented in comparison to oblivion's. The combat however was just horrible IMO. Oblivion's combat is much better, but it's still not that good. IF they replaced oblivions combat mechanics with dark messiah's that would be sweet!
