Addon is stuck in "waiting for authorization" (Forums : Support : Addon is stuck in "waiting for authorization") Locked

So i've uploaded an addon and for some reason it makes me wait for manual approval. None of my previous addon's had to go through that before and it's been well over a day without any change on the situation. I've tried reuploading the addon to see if it would change anything, but it had no effect. Is this just a case of manual approvals being slower than stated in the header blurb or did something go wrong?

Addon in question: Moddb.com

edit 27th July: Uploaded the Addon again today, got verified within in an hour. Y'all gotta fix your queue system, or whatever it is that causes mods to stay in limbo for days.

I have waited since july 23th. Today new addons that are just hours old appeared. I decided to delete and upload again only to see the exact same message. This is confusing since it says 1 day.

All authorisation is manual. Because there's only a handful of people to handle authorisations, it can take a bit to get to an addon. That being said, we do have automated systems in place that allow some files/articles through straight away provided you meet some minimum requirements like site membership periods and that sort of thing. It is best to patient because at the end of the day, there are literally hundreds of new bits of content - articles, files, mod pages, so on - uploaded every day. Your addon will be gotten to, and generally, sooner rather than later.

So what exactly is getting checked for in authorizations that makes the wait actually worth it? Is it just a rudimentary anti-virus check (which surely could be automated)? Is every mod individually installed and verified to work properly? Is it just to ensure that someone isn't uploading pure garbage (I have my doubts about that)?

The antivirus check is automated. Files are checked to make sure the download page itself is permissible (i.e. doesn't have an inappropriate/irrelevant front image, in which case it is usually either archived or deleted), as well as to make sure it doesn't use copyrighted content (which we sometimes receive reports about from the copyright holders), as well as to ensure it is the right page to be attached to (as many users upload files, deliberately or unintentionally, to the incorrect pages). Exceptionally poor quality files are subject to deletion if they crash, cause problems not determined by the antivirus check, or are reuploads of someone else's work. Until recently, before I had my current role on the site's team, I also had to wait for manual authorisation for my files and articles as a mod creator. I get the wait can be frustrating, but there is a reason for it, and just as I had to be patient then, I ask you to be patient now.

Other sites manage just fine by assuming that every file is okay, until it is found not to be. I can't say for certain of course, but I will just assume that the vast majority of submissions are actually passing the bar, so making everyone wait for a minority of shit content isn't exactly a great solution. The site or its users aren't gonna melt if they occasionally see something miscategorized for a couple of seconds before it's cleaned up later. If you were to implement this smartly, you could throw every submission into a queue for manual review, but have the mod actually display immediately (or at the VERY least after the promised 1 day, so nobody has to wait nearly a god damn week). Shit content would be caught this way eventually and nobody gets angry because they have to wait for you to painstakingly approve every tiny tidbit of content. You could augment that queue with a report system, where shit content that gets reported gets thrown further to the front of the queue so it gets caught quicker.

Your current approach is archaic and needlessly slow, fix it.

The vast majority of submissions don't meet the bar - maybe two thirds do, three quarters on a good day - and you're theorising a pretty complicated technical implementation (that also significantly changes how the current site staff is organised). I've been polite with you in an effort to answer your query and explain why the system works the way it does. If you're not going to be polite in response, I'm going to have to leave this discussion be.

Why has the waiting time deteriorated so much?
I can not understand this?
Until a few days ago, it only took a few seconds or minutes for a file to be shared.
Can't turn off the antivirus check?
I think everyone has a virus program installed that warns of a damaged file ...
