Goreagulation - Update Two: Scabbing Over
It's been a while since last I spoke of Goreagulation, and whilst it continues along fine - as it did before its announcement - a few have spoke of its possible early demise. Not so! Progress continues well - with testing feedback implemented and art passes approaching completion. Let's get into it!
Gore1 - The Lowest Levels
The art pass of Gore1 is now fully complete - the intro level that sets the atmosphere, this was important to nail early on to set a sort of "style guide" for the rest of the mod. Things will change and new elements will be introduced, but Gore1's distillation is complete and with three rounds of testing feedback also implemented, it is now in a release candidate state. Take a look below and also take a glance at the gallery - though plenty more remains to be discovered in-game!
Gore2 - The Gore Mines
People are a resource in the Spire - used as raw material not only for the servitors of the Eye, but also as material to grow the facility itself and deepen the Eye's dominance. Gore2 is about 70% complete - the testing feedback has all been implemented and the art pass continues along well.
Assets - The Leftovers
Whilst the majority of assets were shown in the inaugural article, a few were not shown in detail and are being revealed here. One is a detail for worldbuilding that leaves more questions than it answers; the other, a barrier to entry that holds sway in the same ways as the Eye, just on a much smaller scale.
Gifs - Meat In Motion
Some details are best seen in motion - such as the Flegg, a strange egg of flesh that births an unknown creature and is sparingly seen. Fun as hell to smash though! And then there are pipes carrying meat, blood, and souls to parts unknown - elsewhere through the facility as yet more building blocks for the Eye's nefarious needs.
Conclusion
And with that, the second Goreagulation update is wrapped up. Things keep moving forwards and I'm reasonably confident in a release later this year, though things could delay release into early 2023. Future updates will likely focus on details and levels as most of the asset groundwork is laid, but we'll see from there, and see you in the next article for disciples of the Eye!
cool beans
Love it
Oh man! I'm even more excited to play this than I was before! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words!
Very red and fleshy. That's how I like my meat.
Nice and gross, my dude! Hope you got more breakable props on the way! ;)
Please take all the time you need to get it done right.
