Please check the articles section, there you will understand the main differences between GoT Enhanced 5.6 and the Retro Submod.

Great, polished mod!

Only nitpick:
Westeros_Configuration.cfg contains too much customized/unnecessary options (especially sound volume, save go-to and geo rebuilding), might want to turn this down for casual users.

Thank you, the cfg file was the default of Westeros 0.53 as the mod was build over it, same as GoT Enhanced used to be.

A bad idea to change anything.

Hi, If you are going to update the mod can you edit traits a little bit like lowering chances for gaining bad ones. Every single general is loaded with bad traits and even after removing them with console they gain them after few turns. It really messes with economy as well.

Hi, could you please be a bit more specific? Perhaps mentioning one or two bad traits you have encountered more frequently?

Did you patch your Medieval 2 TW with the 4GB patch?

Look at this article, point #2 of the installation instructions. You can download it from there, the mod won't work without it. Though, as far as I know the patch doesn't work on pirate versions of the game.

yes i believe so

The reasons for a start up crash would be either you didn't install it correctly or you didn't patch your Medieval 2 with the 4GB patch. Do you have a pirate version of the game? Just asking because as far as I know the patch doesn't work on it.

If GoT 5.6 works, so should the Retro Submod. In that case, it might be the installation.

Patch it again, sometimes you need to patch the medieval2.exe and the kingdoms.exe more than once.

Mine became unpatched somehow after moving Steam.

Great mod!
Thank you very much for updating!!!

Could you please update the lannister foot-bannercarrier to a full lannister plate armor ?

I tried to just replace it with the cavalry bannercarrier, but the soldier was stuck in the ground....

Hmm...that would mean creating the model as infantry and cavalry uses different banners. You can use the cavalry model by editing the battle_models.db. Though the file is very sensitive, one mistake and the mod won't start anymore.

First of all I would like to thank you for this great mod. I've waited for a COMPLETE asoiaf/GoT mod since announcing of Westeros TW, 10(or more) years ago. I'm enjoying playing it (Starks campaign ca 90 turns, Arryn ca 20 turns) and I dind't encounter any problems,CTDs or bugs. I don't know where to start ...finally mod with good building tree that is very in my opinion for a good campaign expirience... completed unit cards and descriptions...i love idea with rebel settlements and spawning generals ...in general, many great ideas to make campaign interesting... Great job Mr Firestorm_GoT

Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm considering the idea of adding merchants to the game, or other Medieval 2 features. I already added new ship models on my version and I'm planning to release a small patch in december.

Hi, me again, I'm not sure should I write suggestions here or discord.. Still enjoying the mod in 3 different campaigns.. I've noticed when playing as Starks that Lanisters have Daven Lanister(btw, who is a very cool character in the books) as a general, but when I'm playing as Lanisters I don't get him. (I'm saying all this just to give an example for the new general :) Is it possible for the new patch to add a few more generals (maybe 1,2,3..) Just an idea if it's not too complicated moding wise, when take some rebel settlement to spawn lord of that settlement as a some kind of reward for liberation. My second suggestion is to allow recruitment of the local troops instead of your own local units everywhere. In my opinion it's more realistic if you, for example, playing as Starks when you take settlement that you can recruit local units like westerlands spearmen or bowmen - and especially to recruit riverland units like in the books :) (including specific units in some settlements like marbrand bowmen or mallister macamen) It's more interesting to have such a mixed armies.

Hi, Daven Lannister spawn later in the campaign and captures the rebel Faircastle. So it should be available to the Lannisters. As per the other suggestion, I might make the specific house units like Marbrand Bowmen or Bracken Knights available to every faction. But I don't like the idea to do the same for regional units. Like the Greyjoys fighting the Starks with Northern soldiers. I haven't done it as it wouldn't be realistic for so many houses to switch allegiances in such a short time. But gameplay wise that could be interesting.

Totally agree with you in the case of Greyjoys fighting with Northern soldiers, at the same time in TWOT5K it's common for Riverland soldiers to fight for the Starks, or Crownland troops for Lanisters, aslo after death of Renly, stormlands and reach soldiers fought for the Lanisters, There are many houses in Westeros (specially crownlands, riverlands, reach, stormlands) with easily changed loyaltes. So maybe you can limit recruitment with some kind of culture requirement/religion. That would limit, for example, Greyjoys from fighting the Starks with Northern soldiers or reverse. I know that all the others factions in Westeros are of the same religion (faith of the Seven), so maybe Some additional building for recruiting local troops. Furthermore, maybe probability of one house to switch allegiance to the other liege lord who took his castle, is higher in world of GoT and during the time of the War of the five Kings. And yes, gameplay wise that would be more interesting.
Also, do you consider too add a couple more Bannermen to some factions and specific house units, for the December patch? :)

I see, that's a major difference from GoT Version 4.6 - 5.0 as it had such a system.

Version 5.6 has a very similar system to that of the older version but it's not 100% the same.

FireStorm's retro-mod is completely different in this regard.

I was thinking how awesome would be to combine theese two mods (5,6 and Retro). Retro mod is very polished, has a beautiful strategy models, great building tree, all the unit cards... a tone of good staff... Staff to combine with from GoT 5,6: possibility to raise local troops(with exception of units form major houses like Stark,Lanister..),Rest of the units(Barowtown,Lefford, would be also cool to add more units for minor houses, like Hornwood,Mormont pikemen,Blackwood Knights...all of them ) White Harbor model, Robb Stark model, more starting characters(Howland Reed,Hother and Mors Umber,Rodrik Ryswell...),ships...

Hello, I've tried a few GOT mods, including 5.6 and Fire & Blood. I wanted to give this a look but when I try to run the executable it says it cannot find the kingdoms.exe file. I have a copy of the executable renamed as just kingdoms in my Medieval II folder, so I am not sure why it can't find it. I have the folder labeled Westeros in mods. All it says is to make sure I type the kingdoms executable correctly. I have these executables patched as well. 5.6 opens just fine. Any idea why GOT Retro won't open?

That's very weird. Did you try to check the path of the executable? It should be the same as GoT, just the name would be Westeros instead.

Hello,
Are you planning to release a new patch in the near future?
Does the mod support hotseat?

Hi, hotseat campaigns should work, though never tested it. As about a new patch, very little has been added since the release. Was expecting to get more feedback on what doesn't work properly so I could fix it.

No, I haven't added any new unit since last release. The sellswords are still the ones I previewed in the article.
