Happy Valentine's Day! :D
I know I was supposed to release a "Shareware" version by Christmas and I'm sorry for not doing that. A lot has been going on and I just couldn't focus on it. I've decided to change the plans on how this will be released and developed. I'm gonna work on it when I can but I will also be releasing early versions of this once in awhile. I'll be adding new maps one by one and fixing/updating the previous ones. I guess you could call it early access but I'm gonna call it an alpha.
So whats new with this one? Well theres 4 new maps (8 total), new music and title screen, and I overhauled the first few levels.
-Change log-
Map 1
- Added more detail to interiors
- Increased the sizes of a couple rooms
- Moved around some of the weapon and armor pickups
Map 2
- Added minor details to first half of map
- Large floor pentagram no longer deals damage (idk why it did in the first place)
- Replaced Barron with Hell Knight in the church
Map 3
- Removed floor hazards in red key room
- Removed that crazy flickering hallway that was ugly and pointless
- Acid pit deals damage
- More minor details in various areas
- Shuffled some items around in the yellow key room
- Changed music because it was TOO LOUD
Map 4
- Overhauled starting building so it actually looks like something
- Replaced muddy water in river with lava (because why not?)
- Chopped up outdoor terrain to give various ground height like rolling hills
- Added a few extra rooms to the interior of the large building (some are unfinished atm)
- Added more detail to the interior of said building
- Shuffled some enemies and items around, but not much
Everything else
- Added maps 5-8 (One of them will lead to the secret level, but it doesn't exist yet so it will just take you to the next level atm)
- New music
- Added story screen after map 7
- Changed title pick to something that looks better
- "Now entering" screens before each level (I don't remember if that was already fixed in the demo or not)
Thank you!And best of luck! :D
You're welcome! And thank you for the encouragement, I really appreciate it. When you get the chance please let me know what you think of it so far. :3
I liked this one a lot. While I'm not so great at finding bugs, I had no problems with it.I especially liked where the monsters were standing on one level (can't remember which one)and when shot at, there was a splash on the white round plates. That was a really cool effect. So was the colorful static church windows. This wad didn't seem like an alpha.Hope you continue with Crooked Realms, but do it at your own pace.I still wish yuo good luck! :D
That's great! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! ^w^ Although I have no idea what you're talking about when you said " splash on the white round plates". ^^;
Where the hellknights or whichever were standing on some white round things (plates?)I had the no target on for a change (oops!)so the monsters were just standing still. This was my 2nd playing, trying with brutal doom.Works fine with it btw.Anyway, when I shot at and lobbed a grenade, there was a splash, like water.Maybe a bug from bd?Either way,the surface was solid, yet it splashed like water.Sorry, I'm not so good with words. But it was a cool effect.Hope this helps a bit?I'm just getting old I guess. Thanks for answering!
Oh I know what you're talking about! Its the 3 pods with the barrons in them, in front of the yellow key card. Yeah I used a water texture on them so when they opened it would look like the liquid in them was draining out. When the grenade hit it splashed because thats what Brutal Doom is supposed to do when something hits a liquid texture. Its not supposed to be like that normally.
Yes, that's the one.But I still had fun playing, bd or not.Am looking foward yo when it's done, but please at you own pace. Thanks for replying and putting up with me! :D
And thank you for the support. :3
You're welcome.Cheers!
