Installation:
1. Extract "Steam & Steel v1.0.7z" to a new folder
2. Delete any existing Steam & Steel files
3. Paste folder "steamsteel" into the "mods" directory
4. Ensure that the 4GB patch has been applied, if not follow the instructions in the description below
5. Launch Steam & Steel via either "Steam & Steel.bat" or its shortcut
- Further details are available in instructions.txt located inside the main extracted folder

30 playable factions, with unique independents for all regions
Entirely original building tree, with a unique central government system
Total conversion of campaign mechanics such as population, economy etc.

Historically accurate equipment for each unit, with detailed performance modelling of period firearms
Unique reloading animations for infantry, cavalry and artillery
Detailed system of technological progression, including total replacement of factional rosters

4GB Patch Instructions:
1. The 4GB Launcher is provided inside the main mod directory "steamsteel"
2. After launching, navigate to the parent folder "Medieval II Total War"
3. Select and apply the patch to both "kingdoms.exe" and "medieval2.exe"
Note: If kingdoms.exe is unavailable, rename a copy of "medieval2.exe" to "kingdoms.exe" and patch the file so generated

Problem. save files keep crashing
M2TW autosaves are inherently crash-y. Manual saving should reduce the problem.
Manual saves don't seem to help, it doesn't seem to matter whether it is an auto or manual save - loading any save just results in a crash

i think i have found a solution load autosave if it works make another save. press the autosave name it autosave 1 load it see if it works.it did work for me
Cant even continue with the campaign. Autosaves are unloadable too.

I cant load a save file.
I did aply Memory patch, but it didnt help.
Dev campaigns and world one are not working. It crashes before the main menu is even loaded. I deleated all other mods and installed medieval once again and still the same issue (4GB patch is downloaded)

It crashes when I try to launch custom battle, and also after some clicks on the campaign menu
congrats on new release but i m seeing many comments about save file isnt working .
i did adress u guys that before this version it did crash my save files. I hope u guys can fix it fast. :)

Well, the mod looks very promising so thanks a lot for your hard work. There are some bugs here and there and I can load a save but I just played it one turn I could load this one-turn save but there are not any victory objectives for any nation in the campaign menu units tabs where you choose a nation and inside the game so is there a solution about this problem or would have the victory objectives with the next version?? I did all of the steps right I copied the steamsteel folder inside the mods folder, I applied the 4GB patch and I have a kingdoms exe file in the MTW2 folder, steams version of the game btw???
The mod is great, it looks very promising, the desings of the soldiers and the handling for the battles are very well handled, but there are some details that should be improved, such as when a unit surrenders, the flag does not white know if it has surrendered, show that the other factions are shown on the campaign map because it is difficult to know what they declared war on a faction or that they have annexed it, and hope they make a lore about the conflicts of that century, and the other problem that until 1870 the game makes you lose the game, I hope they fix that problem because this mod has a lot of potential, I hope they keep updating it.

a really great mod. the only problem is that i cant load my save games. maybe the save file is getting to big.
an early campaign save game in the size 2.420 kb i can load a more advanced one from 3.020 kb crashes at the loading screen
