It’s here! The first release of STA3 to the general public is now available to download. The mod has been in continuous development for about a year now and we feel that it is in a state that is acceptable for release.
So what is STA3? STA3 is a total conversion of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion with four new factions each with their own unique play style and aesthetics. The game is a completely different beast to the stock game. Old habits will have to die and new strategies will have to be thought of in order to win.
Features: : Four Playable races; United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire and the Borg Collective: All new vessels.: All new planet modules.: Many new effects on existing stellar phenomena including wormholes and the stars themselves.: New research trees unique to each race.: New weapon effects.: New explosion effects.: Many new damage meshes for destroyed vessels (still a wip, mainly federation only at the moment) : Many new abilities complete with unique particle effects specific to them.
Not all of the features have been added in and this will be done through patches and expansions on a later date. So as a personnel message from the mod team we hope you enjoy it as we have put a lot passion into this. Thank you for your support it has been hugely appreciated. So what are you waiting for? Game minidumps when I try to activate the mod. I click activate, and apply changes and while it says Please Wait it minidumps. Must only be happening to me, but I cannot figure out why it is happening.
You need to overwrite the enabledmods.txt with the one in the downloaded folder.

Voyager's armor ability(HOW DID YOU DO THAT!?), entering and exiting warp effects, phaser and torpedo sounds, don't tell that other mod about this, but yours is WAAY better.
Aww what am I worried about, they won't find out! I mean it's not like they have the Tal Shiar or Obsidian Order working for them right? Who am I kidding, I bet they do!! I mean you can't pass gas without the Order knowing about it! Wait I don't think that's how that line went.
Am I being slow in not seeing a special armour ability for the Intrepid class ? :(

It's not even 5 AM here and there are already 2K downloads. That speaks a lot for the quality.
Problem, I first want to make it clear this is not with the mod itself. Ever since I updated Sins all cap ships no matter who I play as cost nothing but the command points. I forgot this caused me to stop playing sins since it is kind of game breaking. Does anyone have a fix?
ask steam to check file integrity by right clicking on the game via steam library. Sometimes Steam DL's get a bit derpy and miss files.

Congrats guys on the release. I've been looking forward to this for a while.
Already had an epic fed vs rom battle. Here's my feedback...
Positives
- Very nice work on the stability. Not a single crash and the end game with huge fleets had minimal stutter.
- sounds, models, effects were all good
- skill trees seemed pretty solid (could use a bit more here and there)
- The ui is great. nice work on that.
- model size was great. love the big titan.
negatives, bugs, constructive feedback
- sometimes parts of a fleet will take a different route to a planet
- the effects, like group shield, just last too long. Also they shouldn't show at all when you're in movie mode. I like to see my pretty pew pew light show.
- sometimes that ai will make a crap ton of the same ship (can't remember the name. it was a torp boat)
I think there were a few other things but I just too damned tired to remember. Someone else will chime in with it I'm sure.
Keep up the great work guys. Really had a blast tonight. Can't wait to play more.
Thanks for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated :) We'll look into the torpedo boat issue, as it may be a cost thing. Unfortunately the path finding and the cinematic mode are stock game in origin and I don't think we could change them.
