Slimy Situation is a mappack created for and is the first place winner of the "TWHL - Whole Goop Life" competition. The goal of the competition was to utilize toxic waste we know and love from HL in a creative way and my main goal was to create fun situations using it.
I tried creating unique scenarios, like trying to save a friendly NPC in a set time limit in one map, and using the green goo theme in every corner, in meaningful and fun ways without overdoing it. I would have changed a ton if I had more time while the contest was going on, but I'm pretty happy with the end result regardless. I will share it as is without any alterations for now, though maybe I can do some improvements in the future. I hope this will be a fun experience for the players.
Creating this pack wasn't a fun ride, during development I got covid and came down with regular flu a week after getting better, which made me almost give up. Needless to say, I couldn't add everything I wanted and detail the architecture like I had planned due to this. Though, since I already prefer the old-school style, I (JACK)hammered away to create something creative instead of making brushwork that looks jaw dropping :)
Installation:
Simply drop the mod folder to your HL folder and restart Steam, it will show up on your library. You can also check out the Readme for fun facts about the mod.

Yeah, it's not extremely polished, given the circumstances of me getting covid and the deadline looming I still don't know how I finished it in the end :)

I couldn't work out what to do within the given time slot so I've deleted it, could have been fun though but I hate those timed things, not my thing.
Mostly run & press some buttons until you find someone to help you. And it's only about beginning, there are much things to do after this, without a hassle.
I hate timed missions too but as explained in the ReadMe, time passes so slowly that you can complete that section three times before the limit is up.
The path is pretty straight-forward and like Qwertyus said, only the first map has the timed mission. Give it another try if you want.
I just finished it, and I gotta say it was pretty good. The first map, where I have to save the scientist within a time limit felt like a maze a little bit, but other than that a solid little mappack.
