Removed 2nd Magnum
I have removed the use of two Magnum weapons as this was a poor choice of gameplay.
Now there is only one which you will start the game with.
•New Routes
You will now take several new routes through the game in order to find
keys, health items and other resources.
Changed Item Locations
Many of the item locations have been changed to provide a new fresh experience.
Changed Some Puzzle Solutions
The solutions to two puzzles have been changed.
One in the Spencer Mansion and another in the Arklay Research Lab.
Removed Narrative Choices
I have removed the choices the game provides which can affect how the game story will
progress. The reason for this is that some choices have no affect on what happens and
I also wanted to force Barry's Mod to have both the 'Good' and 'Best' endings available.
Updated Cutscene Text
I have added names to the cutscene text to provide clarity on who is talking and when.
Updated Boss Battles
You will now be forced to fight the bosses in Resident Evil. Many advanced
players would simply run passed or use speed running techniques to avoid
fighting the bosses. Now you will need to stock up on supplies and prepare for each battle.
Added My Intro Logo
Added my introduction logo which is based off the Capcom original.
Changed Textures To Originals
I have changed the character and monster textures back to the original
1996 versions for the sake of authenticity.
Changed Music & Sound Effects To Originals
I have also changed the music and sound effects back to the original 1996 versions
for the sake of authenticity.
Updated Item Screen Portrait
Barry Burton has had a new face icon added to the item screen to better
match the original face icons.
Adjusted Weapon Damage To Bosses
I have tweaked the damage certain weapons will do to certain bosses. The reason for
this was because I felt some boss monsters felt far too easy to defeat. One example is
the Tyrant now needing 6 magnum shots rather than only needing 3 shots like the original.
Added Bonus Costumes
There are 2 bonus costumes for Barry which can be unlocked by completing the game and getting
the 'Special Key' which unlocks the closet room.

Yeah, read the READ ME file in the folder, look at the controls you'll see to access options you press F5 of O key. Then you can set your own controls for keyboard or gamepad :)

Hey there, great work! Any chance of getting this to run on 1280x960 resolution? Switching the resolution in config.ini doesn't work, it just defaults back to 640x480 after opening the game
If you check the read me you can change the game's resolution by changing RETROMORE = 1 to 0 and also pressing the F8 key to cycle screensize/fullscreen/windowed modes. :)

If you get a copy of Biohazard (The japanese version of Resident Evil) for PC, simply copy the 'ddraw.dll' and 'config.ini' file into the install directory and it will work that way :)

That's rather odd as others have been able to play passed that part and complete it. Have you explored each area fully?

With help debug mode I tried replacing Barry with Jill and found that she had a modified remake-style model. It is definitely better than the default one in the original game.
Question: is this your work or did you download a separate addon with Jill's skin (maybe other characters too) and adapt it in your fashion?

Just information: when you change Barry to Jill and go to another room, the skin is replaced and health becomes critical. We need to treat him.
After the first fight with a giant snake, when Barry was already cured, replacing Barry with Jill requires an antidote for the snakebite, similarly when changing Jill back to Barry, he becomes poisoned, an antidote is required.
If you change Barry to Jill (possibly also if there was a replacement for any other character) and it was already visually confirmed (there was a transition to another team), then the saving takes place under the name Jill. An attempt to load such a save will break the game.
Therefore, it is better to return Barry, go to another room so that the skin matches, and then save under the name of Barry, then the save will be working.

Hey great mod! when trying to just play through the Vanilla game after the opening cut scene i get the prompt "Couldn't find file /horr/jpn/room1061.rdt". do i need the original cd or file? Barry's mod works just fine. i just really want to play Resident Evil 1996 on PC.
